Hello !

I've been thinking about this question for quite a long time already . If given a chance , would you prefer school buses or excursion buses to have city bus design , e.g. low floor feature (for e,g, , the Volvo B7RLE) . ? Or do you prefer it to be coach like (Volvo B7R) ?

Countries like Australia , does use low floor buses for school buses .

I certainly prefer it to be city bus like ! Cuz , boarding will be so much faster and easier ! Whats ur opinion? Very Happy

However, these low floor buses in Australia do normal route after doing school runs, and these are operated by operators which operate normal routes, their shift can consist of several routes. It is not very efficient to run low floor buses just for school runs. For this, there is a special version of the B7R in Australia, the B7RSA (B7R School Automatic).

Like SBS Volvo B10M Intercooled Bendy which has migrated to NZ, serving students as a school bus. Some Volvo B10M Mark IIs are going to become ghosts in NZ as school bus. Well, Volvo B10M body chasis is initialy meant for coaches but, it’s used as Citybuses.

I am thinking that the Mk2s will go to Defu instead of New Zealand. Only one Mk1, one Mk2 and about 20 DAF SB220LTs were exported from Singapore to New Zealand.

Yes...I strongly hope they should make a regulation that new buses(private) should also be low step/entry/floor.

Some doorstep of the private buses are damn high, making it hard for old people to get onto the buses.

I agree . Especially those used for shuttle buses . My grand father , who had suffered a stroke , took a full 3mins to climb the bus .

Altho theres no need for the buses to be low floor , at least a bus with low steps will do instead of those with high steps like coaches .

I think you might have to own a business to own a bus . Also , u cant own a MKII in SG , no way . The MKII have reached its maximum lifespan already .

I've emailed to the LTA before , asking if im able to own such a bus , in this case , the Scania N113CRB . LTA told me that the bus has reached its maximum lifespan years already and cant be used as second hand bus anymore . Sad

If only we live in Australia , then maybe we can own some MKIIs . Very Happy Laughing

If this is so, then the government would face opposition from the private bus operators. They wouldn't be able to buy cheaper Japanese or Chinese models, adding to their operational cost, which will in turn lead to a reduced supply and cause a shortage, ceteris paribus.

Then perhaps , maybe the bus operators might want to purchase those buses used by Sentosa ? The bodywork is from SC one (not soon chow) . It dont seems to be very high floor as compared with some buses . Also , it has bigger door entries and exits , which can also allow faster boarding .

Oh the Woodlands Transport ones, Isuzu LT134Ps used for Sentosa and Budget terminal shuttles + PA6458D in Woodlands Transport livery used for factory workers. It doesn't seems very high floor, but it has 3 steps (not including the curb to bus step).

3 steps is okay , as compared with 4 to 5 high steps in some school buses .

That bus is 12 metre chasis and the bus have larger doors than the Volvo B10Ms or any other citybuses! The only type of coach body, sandwiched with citybus doors. Laughing

Coaches are more comfortable than city buses.
