I suspect your (all who say LO3Xes have weak aircon) points are correct. Like other LO3Xes, SBS 9199C probably have weak air con. I saw this bus which had just left TPE at about 3+ without destos. I don't know whether there were any passengers on board the bus.

Still, I have yet to comment on the performance of LO3Xes on the expressway.

SBST loves to lock up not only the top speed but the acceleration as well to prevent jerking(Pax fall) when moving off.Try 9045,Weal acceleration,Top speed sucks and the A/C just a point above Elbos.

Can't blame, their Volvo Olympians: AVs/3AVs with a mix of Volvo and Cummins engine + ZF and Voith gearboxes. While their S3Vs are just like our LO3xes...just that they don't have aircon, and the weight and steering of an Olympian is heavy.

at least their Leyland Olympians, some have Gardner.

There’s a ZF 1994 Volvo Olympian on Service 10 (The One with Face THe Facts Advert). It’s gearbox ratios sounds like a normal Volvo B10M Mark II one. You can catch it at Vivocity at around 6:20 – 6:40 pm on weekdays.

You take those SLBP LO3xs, especially those 179 or ex-179 ones, like 9058B, 9059Z, 9131Y, etc... Though they not as powerful as most of the VO3xs, but still in the morning can even have condensation on the windows.

Not very true.

Some of the SL 97 buses air-con are fine. Not too strong till there's condensation on the outer surfaces, neither is there an oven within the bus.

Can't say for other LOs though. Razz

This also happens to the VO3x batch 2 & 3. Actually as long as the bus is coolong I had no complain for that.. Unlike the Scania N113CRB, their aircon are just very weak..

Compare it to an old C151 MRT. Most of them have water droplets on the air cooling vents. Can clean your hands with the water. Just wipe it on the droplets and rub it. It's very cold. Wink

I’ve taking 9190B on 168 in Nov 2004 & it was speeding like mad on SLE it even run on the last 2nd lane , i cant imagine the speed that it was travelling & it broke the record of 45 mins from Bedok – Woodlands , while others takes abt an hour

Try 9159T.....this LO accelerates so quickly after the turbo-lag that the bus stays only a split second in 1st gear after lock-up engages. Suddenly you answered my long-time question of why some buses just accelerates better than others of their kind.

9045M used to be ok.......when it was under 72, now dunno what is it like.

Actually as long as the BC does not apply enough pressure on the pedal, this will happen to most VOs. The lock-up will engage early and the bus will crawl until it picks up momentum again.

Yes, be satisfied that in Singapore, you have a proper air-conditioned bus (I don't know if it can be applied to other areas, but in my area, I consider so), rather systematic bus routes and good frequencies. If you want to compare with SE Asia, what are your thoughts? Smile

I talked to 179 BC a few days ago. I ask him which he think is the best 179 LO3x.

He says he likes 9111E & 9128H the best because they have the best pick-up! Very Happy He says the engines have been replaced before.

Ya, because SBS 9128H once got the serious engine problem. As u can see the exterior at the rear side are all black that time.
