SBL Press Release

1. SBL is pleased to announce that the new fleet of Hispano Habits have just arrived. Some of these buses will be deployed on Service 34, but the majority of the buses will be involved in the Boon Lay handover in May.

2. New Service 177 will be introduced on 15 May. This service will operate between Bukit Batok and Hougang Central. On the same day, Service 61 will be amended. The service will no longer serve Toh Tuck Road, as that stretch will be served by Service 177.
Note: Another Hougang - Jurong service has to be introduced to ensure fair competition. This note is directed to all the other fantasy bus company owners.

3. Here's the summary regarding the Boon Lay handover:

Services to be run by SBL: 79, 172, 179, 180, 182, 192, 193, 194 and 199.
Services unaffected: 30, 174, 174e, 178, 187, 198 and all Jurong Industrial services.
New service: 175 (operates between Boon Lay and Lorong 1 Geylang via Grange Road and Shenton Way)
All changes will take effect on 15 May 2005. Service 172 will receive DDs.

4. Amendment to Services 4, 18 and 518
Service 4 - Enhanced to better serve Pasir Ris via Pasir Ris Drive 3 and Pasir Ris Street 71. It will skip Pasir Ris Central.
Service 18 - Merged with Express 518 to form new Service 18. This new operates between Tampines and Marina Centre via New Upper Changi Road, Lavender Street, Rochor Canal Road, Bukit Timah Road and Orchard Road. Service operates in 2 directions. Regular fares are now accepted. Service 18 will also receive articulated buses.
Express 518 - Withdrawn and merged with Service 18. The Pasir Ris sector is covered by enhanced Service 4.

NEWS UPDATES (5 May 2005)

5. Services 5 and 292 will be integrated into Service 5. The new service will ply from Tampines Interchange and Tampines Streets 92 and 22. Service 5 will call at Street 92 during peak hours only. Buses going there will be numbered "5A" instead. Townlink fares are accepted on this bus service.

New route: Tampines Central 1, Tampines Avenue 5, (Tampines Avenue 1), Tampines Street 92, (Tampines Avenue 1), Tampines Avenue 2, Tampines Street 22, Tampines Avenue 2, Tampines Street 11, Tampines Avenue 5, Tampines Central 1.

6. New Service 164 will be introduced on 15 May 2005. This new service operates from Jurong East Interchange to Sembawang. This service will connect Sembawang residents to Ang Mo Kio, Thomson, Bukit Timah and Jurong East. DDs will be used on this service.

Note: There will be no boarding and alighting activities at Sembawang Terminal (make-shift terminal). Boarding and alighting activities will be done at the pair of bus stops outside Sembawang MRT along Sembawang Way (same place to board Service 981). This service will call at Sembawang Interchange "when it is ready".

SBL Press Release

1. SBL would like to inform everybody that it's putting all its effort to be an all-bus company. In other words, SBL will not bid for the operations of any future MRT or LRT lines, inclusive of those in Jurong (Jurong East, Jurong West & Boon Lay) and Bukit Batok.

2. Starting May 22 2005, SBL will introduce 2 new bus services.
A. Service 45, operating between Changi Airport and Marina Centre. This service will provide tourists a faster link to East Coast Road, Geylang Road, and Marina Centre. It will also allow tourists to quickly link up with SBST's Citybuzz services. Buses with a red "T" plate in front indicate that it will terminate at Marina Centre/Changi Airport. Passengers going beyond this point are advised not to take these buses.
B. Service 110, operating between Ghim Moh and Eunos. This service serves Geylang, Chinatown, Kampong Glam, Bukit Merah and Tanglin Halt.
Both services are launched in conjunction of LTA's approval to allow bus services to run along MRT lines, mainly the NS and EW Lines.

3. SBL will take over the bus services in Jurong East on 19 June 2005. Services affected are Services 78, 79, 98, 99 and 183. On the same day, Services 78 and 99 will be integrated to become Service 78, operating from Clementi to Jurong West Street 92 via Jln Buroh and Jurong East. Passengers from Jurong East can still take this service from the pair of bus stops outside Jurong East Int/MRT. Operating hours will follow former Service 99.

SBL Press Release

The final phase of handover of bus services to SBL will be complete on June 25 with the acqusition of the last 2 bus services, 176 and 184. Both services will also have their rotues amended.

Service 176 - Extended to operate between Bukit Panjang and New Bridge Road. The service will connect commuters in Bukit Merah not served by Service 124 to the Outram Park MRT Station. Service 176 will also call at Jurong East Interchange on the direction towards New Bridge Road.

Service 184 - Route extended to Kent Ridge Terminal via Clementi Road. This will allow Bukit Panjang residents to reach the NUS without much fuss. The amended service, however, will not operate along Clementi Avenues 2 & 5. The reason being that it's no longer looping at Clementi MRT.

Closure of Mountbatten Road
Services 1, 34, 77 & 84 will be amended to use Sims Way. Other operating details remain unchanged.

Starting July 17, Service 37 will be enhanced to serve Tampines New Town even better. From Tampines Interchange, it will ply Tampines Avenue 5, Street 83, Avenue 3, Avenue 4, Avenue 1, Avenue 2, Street 32, Street 34, and connect with route towards Changi Airport via Tampines Avenue 7 & TPE/PIE.

2. Amendment to Service 77.
Starting July 17, Service 77 will be enhanced to serve Marine Parade Road better.
Towards Changi Airport: It will ply Marine Parade Road, Siglap Road, and onto the ECP towards Changi Airport.

With the success of Service 71 (based on Feeders 231 & 261), SBL is going ahead with introducing a second inter-town service, Service 59. Service 59 will operate along the routes of Feeders 235 and 410.

EXTENSION OF SERVICE 37 TO PUNGGOL

Starting August 21, SBL Service 37 will be extended to Punggol Interchange via TPE and Edgefield Plains. The move is to allow Punggol residents with a quicker link to Tampines and Changi Airport. This service might replace Service 3 as the main link between Tampines and Punggol.

Direction 1: Punggol Interchange, Punggol Central, Edgefield Plains, Punggol Field, Punggol Road, (TPE), Tampines Avenue 10, (Avenue 9), Avenue 7, Avenue 5, Street 83, Avenue 3, Avenue 4, Avenue 1, Avenue 2, Street 32, Street 34, Avenue 7, (TPE), (PIE), (ECP), Airport Boulevard, Changi Airport PTB 1 & 2.

Direction 2: Changi Airport PTB 1 & 2, Airport Boulevard, (ECP), (PIE), (TPE), Tampines Avenue 7, Street 34, Street 32, Avenue 2, Avenue 1, Avenue 4, Avenue 3, Street 83, Avenue 5, Avenue 7, (Avenue 9), Avenue 10, (TPE), Punggol Road, Punggol Field, Edgefield Plains, Punggol Central, Punggol Interchange.
