All buses registered after 1st june 2006 must be wheelchair accessible. To make a B12M wheelchair accessible requires a wheelchair lift which costs more than a ramp and have high operating costs.

Erm....go look at Volvo's Website. It says that it can meet Euro3/4/5 (incentive) standards. Sentosa's B7RLE arent Euro4.

A 12m B7RLE with full load breaks down? Excuse me, the Sentosa's B7RLEs are usually at full capacity. Last week i went to Sentosa the bus already Full load, yet it can climb hills with no problems.

If SBST chooses a 12m B9L, its gonna go with the 260bhp 9 litre engine. Unless the company opts for the more powerful 310bhp engine, which isn't really practical for a 12m bus. FYI, the 260bhp engine produces 1100nm of torque where the B7RLE's D7E engine produces 1200nm at 290bhp. So which do you think SBST will choose?

If SBST buys King Long, maybe the bus cannot move at full load lah. Laughing

I won't say the B7Rs would breakdown, rather, wouldn't perform as well. As you can see, many of the Sentosa B7Rs are rattling quite badly. Call it poor maintenance, lack of maintenance, I don't know. Overworked? Perhaps.

But someone said that SBST shouldn't buy B12BLEs. The bus is high in fuel consumption . Plus, i think that 340bhp for a 12m city bus ( its fine for a bendy bus) is really too much . Confused

The B9L, B7RLE are much better.

Also, B12Ms (and later batches of B10Ms) are meant to be coaches, few bus companies would buy a B12M for city services.

A few chances were missed for bus companies to have low floor buses
1)TIBS brought l113CRls which are low entry chasiss but bodied them such that for the WA Striders, not in a low floor format and the ELBOs (the body is meant for Low entry buses) not in a front door to rear door low floor portion.

2)SBS brought B10M/DM3500s when they can buy B10BLEs, by then the B10M was largely used as a coach.
