Scania N113CRB luver SG Hi guys! Im just curious here. Is the B10M heavier or the O.405? Its seems to me that the O.405 acceleration is slightly better than the B10Ms. B10M feels abit "weighty" leh. So is the B10M heavier or MB O.405?
collinnxk88 SG of course is the B10M la. esp MK3/4s, their weight would be around 11xxx kg? but the MK2s would be lighter, esp the NACs [96xx kg for that case] but for SBST O405s, OACs weigh at around 96xxkg. even though CACs weigh slightly lesser, heh. i was quite surprised that SMRT O405s actually weigh at 10500kg for OAC... even though CACs have a few hundred kgs lesser.
Scania N113CRB luver SG No wonder! I take the B10M and it feels abit like pig, especially the MKIIIs, MKII dont feel so heavy. SMRT OAC Merc is heavier because the Hispano box uses more metals than the SBST counter parts, also the addition of turbo-charger (i believe SMRT's Merc O.405 have turbo-charged engines right? With OM447hA engines?). Cause some of them i think can hear turbo leh, take TIB772M (171 AMDEP)) for example. Volgren Merc also can hear slightly.
stooper SG Why are CACs lighter? Shouldn't they be heavier since all the equipment/pipes have to be installed later? So more modifications have to be made?
carbikebus SG Why most B10Ms heavier and slow?First of all it’s not really a citybus,But more to intercity uses,Secondly blame of the speed limiter and other engine problems.
collinnxk88 SG stooper, it's not really about the modifications, but some aircons on CACs may weigh lighter than that of OACs? carbikebus, so far most B10M MKII NACs, MK4 DMs/3500s chiong pretty well, even though some CACs esp WA-bodied ones accelerate too slowly.
collinnxk88 SG most of the time when i'm on a DM CAC/OAC mercz/volvo, i feel as though im travelling faster compared to a WA bodied CAC volvo/OAC mercz.
dfs24 SG I think the DM3500s are the fastest. The Strider and the DM seem to be just as heavy and slow. Does anyone have the exact figures for the weight of the 3 B10M with different bodywork?
off_service SG Different gearbox and tuning will result in different performances. Most MK4 DMs and all Striders use ZF, only a handful of DM and all MK3500 use Voith.
The_Bus_Guide SG I have the Unladen Weights (ROV) for these buses (in kg): B10M Strider: 10370 Mk III : 10300 WA O405: 9550 Diesel B10BLE: 10980 L94UB: 10412 VSO: 15690 VO3X: 14517
stooper SG I remember they were once written on the black plates at the side of the bus. But most have disappeared after they repaint into SBS Transit.
collinnxk88 SG so the only way is to get them from the chassis registration on top of the driver’s cabin i guess… other than getting it from JB MK3s. [which is big and clear]
The_Bus_Guide SG The info was taken from the old SBS Transit webpage on bus models which I have saved. I don’t have the exact url. Besides, I think the page is no longer there.

stooper SG I checked a CAC DM today (3820G) and it's unladen weight was 9310kg I actually thought that was the original NAC weight, but after looking at the above figures, I presume SBS has updated the plates? And also, are the MK2s really that heavy? 2 times the O405 and also heavier than the DDs!
collinnxk88 SG that 17000kg is just the GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT, which is the maximum loading weight the bus can legally handle, 2/3 axles combined.
