There never was a VO2X DD on 151. But there was once when SBS Transit wanted to introduce Superbuses on 151. Smile

As far as I know, at Sims Ave, there was no diversions for buses as the floods only lasted about 2 hours. At one point, TP diverted traffic away, but it seems vehicles like buses and lorries can brave through the waters easily.

As I promised, photos (sorry for the delay, though):

If you check any one of the Bus Guides 1977, 1979-80, 1980-81 & 1982, there is a flood diversion plans of the affected areas. 25 areas were affected by floods (excluding Sims Ave).

Some svc were ceased to operate in case of severe flooding.

Seems like these are no longer needed because of our vastly improved drainage system. (Thanks ENV and NEA!)

The "floods" of today are probably nothing compared to those of 20, 30 years ago. Laughing Very Happy

I remember parts of Bukit Timah Road were prone to flooding in the past.

Apex-LW'21 SG

Bt Panjang Circus, YCK 14km and Telok Blangah Rd (near CIROS THEATRE) were flood-prone areas.

It was.. until they put in that huge monsoon drain.. Other places too.. nowadays if there's any flood at all, it's because the rain came in too quickly and the drains backed up until after a few hours.

Apex-LW'21 SG

Back then, Serangoon monsoon drains were overflowed due to heavy downpour in 2004.

Hmm... no wonder i see lots of old-looking measuring instruments beside the drain at Dunearn Rd. It looks like a black ruler... was it an old rain guage?

kc_leung SG

I remember a downpour in 1992, the drain at Tiong Bahru Park (beside Henderson Road) almost overflowed... you couldn't see the sides of the drain. Just a large stream of muddy water. Shocked

in Bangkok.. theres only 2 bus terminals
one thing i noticed is, the buses, some has only one main/big centre door, and some has front and centre doors.
BOTH doors are opened for alighting and boarding.. no need say must board at front door.. board the bus and the conductor will come and collect the fares.. boarding and alighting activities are therefore speeded up.. Good!

Sounds like the TMO of olden days... Very Happy

In Thailand & Malaysia, they use TMO svcs. Very Happy

major cities like JB and Penang are fast moving into the OMO era, but KL is still having TMO Laughing

as for Bangkok, they have the Sky Train and Subway as additional transportation options these years Very Happy

PhyrePhox SG

I think in KL, they're more for those older bus company. The more up-to-date RapidKL (formerly Intrakota and Cityliner) and Metrobus is all OMO now. Some of the companies are adopting the Touch 'n' Go system.

Anyway.. I didn't get the chance to take the Sky Train the only time I was in Bangkok. Hope to do that if I ever go there again. With the jams and crawls in Bangkok, they're definitely the best option if compared to the buses and taxis (and the Money Ripoff Tuk-tuks! Evil or Very Mad ).

Apex-LW'21 SG

Handal Indah are now OMO, some Maju & Transit Link svc still TMO.

The HDB Hillview Estate is undergoing demolition works, 12 flats will be pulled down to the ground.
Blks 11, 15, 16 & 17 had already been demolished.

The 3 25-storey blocks (Blks 12 to 14) will be torn down too, some window panes had been removed prior to demolition. It seems that no contractors even bother to repaint the flats, it stays there for about 8-10 years! Crying or Very sad

i do wonder how the conductors know who had just boarded the bus when the bus has many passengers Surprised

The skytrain i took it 2 times. it was 3-carriage trains and fares ranges from 10baht to 30baht..

those Tuk-Tuk are geting worse these days.. short distance also asked for 100baht when the taxi-meter charges far less.. but then, you're the (rich) tourist, so have to be ripped Crying or Very sad
