Remembering SBS in Northwest area

It has been mentioned time and again that CCK routes were better off under SBS. Anyway, my area (west) has the "best of both worlds". Ditto for those in the...

This tread is to express anything about SBS in the Northwest area.SBS in the north west area include Bukit Panjang,Chua Chu Kang and Bukit Batok..

sv5, 67, 75, 171, 172, 175, 176, 177, 178, 179, 180, 184, 185, 187, 188, 190, 300, 302, 307, 343, 344, 345 all became TIBS..

prior to that, 160, 167, 169, 59, etc

and then the BB ones like 61, 106, 173, 189, 361, 365, 367.......

luckily 170 was spared Mr. Green

JJxJJ SG

345 was introduced by TIBS at that time in 1997... 343 n 344 were handed over to TIBS.... 180 was renumbered from 951 if im right Smile ..187 n 167 were always smrt?

^tamago^ SG

187 was SBS i think, with LA's running.

167 was the first Tibs service ever. Very Happy

If only SBS were still in charge of BBT & CCK, they would enhance 365 to become an inter-town service that passes outside the Kranji camps and looping @ CCK St 62 in the opposite direction of 307. Anyone agree with me?

Route 187, if I'm not wrong, was a then-SBS route, until the bus rationlisation of 1996 (due to the Woodlands MRT extension), when it was extended to Woodlands (used to be a Boon Lay - Bukit Batok loop service, if I'm not wrong). It was then handed over to then-TIBS. Still remember seeing an old air-conditioned Hino bus (the HT2XX series) on it back then Very Happy .

Route 167, it was an SBS route. Until TIBS was set up. Wink

All BPJ routes (187 was BPJ-BNL route originally) were handed to Tibs in 10/95.

171 was handed to Tibs in 11/95

NE routes were handed to Tibs in 12/95 and remained so until 1999.

Service 170 could be because of JB side...

Bt Batok still have services 77 that you missed out.

Services 178, 180 (withdrawn in 1993), 181 (now 961), 182 (withdrawn in 1996) and 372 (now 903) were the 1st batch of Woodlands services that were transferred over to Tibs in 1983 if I am not wrong Rolling Eyes

Service 345 was never under SBS before, it was originally introduced by Tibs in 1997.

Former service 160 is now service 980 (unless you are referring to the current 160 that plies between Jurong West and JB)

Former service 59 is now service 86 (unless you are referring to the current 59 that plies between Bishan and Changi Village)

There were also 161 & 164 in SBW side.

Apex-LW'21 SG

current 160 is Jurong East, not Jurong West

Apex-LW'21 SG

Don’t forget 204 & 208. It was introduced by SBS in 1982, handled to TIBS in 1983 and re-numbered to 925 in 1985.

TIB1018B SG

I don't think service 187 ever used the CAC Hinos Wink Could be service 178 that you are referring to.

Service 187 was introduced by SBS in 1988 between Bt Panjang and Jurong, then amended to Boon Lay in 1990.

tanjun SG

If i do not remember wrongly, the svc number history can be found in sgwiki.com. By the way, I agree with the above quote. There is a high possibility that inter town services will be deployed in cck since demand is rather high plus it makes the whole area of cck and yew tee more accessible.

Volvo Olympian SG

For that , i think they might use new number instead of using 365 or 367.

Urroh SG

Is 187 the first bus to go on BKE? I remember it is..

choww SG

A pity that SBS exchange NW with NE..NW area have more services than NE..In that case,we can have more service guides to collect Very Happy

TIB1018B SG

Got svcs 950, 951, 952, SS7 before tat (all either withdrawn or amended during 1996 rationalisation)

Apex-LW'21 SG

950 (old), 952, SS7 withdrawn.
Sv 951 was cut-short to Bt Panjang, re-numbering 951 to 180.
