Let me elaborate something for you as i'm an ex-HGDEP BC and have talked to several TO about the Tridents,Yes the Tridents is more powerful,Nice,Smooth but the spare parts order alone can take up to a month if breakdown let alone top overhaul,Furthermore Dennis/Cummins engines are not so popular with SBST Mechanics compared to Merc/Scania and Volvo.

Then why SMRT got so many Dennis Lance SDs?

Also HK got the most no of Tridents. Many early model Dennis DDs can be seen too. Maybe it is easier to get Dominator/Trident parts over there than in SG.

If I'm not wrong, KMB and CMB then were only allowed to buy buses from C'wealth countries

Still, HK has a wider variety of buses. They've got the MAN 24.310.

The 1st DD from non-c'wealth countries was the Merc O305. However, only 50 were bought. SBS(T) has at least 200.
