i mean low quality ones. The rubber pieces aren't glued properly and causing the tyres to break after sometime

Bridgestone (everything except B10BLE CNGs and B9TLs) --> unsure about 1688K, 2888T.
Michelin (at least B10BLE CNGs and B9TLs)

Sorry SBS Transit uses only Bridgestone, the Michelins are original tyres by Volvo, Volvo uses Michelins

SMRT ha, dunno who they contract their tyres to now, GT Radial was the previous one, and is the most common. Now should be Yokohama, but there are still more GT Radials now

Michelin tyres are a bit expensive but it's very good. SBST mostly uses new tyres on the front and re threaded tyres on the back

WHy is it so? Buses are rear-wheel drives. Shouldn't the rear tyres wear out more than the front ones? Why use rethreads on the rear? Is it safe?

Rear have 2 tyres on each side while front only 1. Superbuses have 3 rear tyres on each side. So the stress is more on the front instead of the rear.

Actually I was thinking more in the line of the fact that the front axle is used to steer and should hence be given better grip. Maybe.

Ok, from my old old records, the Mercedes 405 was formerly using 295 / 80R22.5 tyres, but later switched to 275 / R70 22.5 tyres, maybe to make their ground to 1st step height lower?

Other than that, the Alexandra Strider with Volvo B10M Mk 4 is also using 295 / R80 22.5, as with the DM3500, all double decks.

As for SMRT buses, the Mecedes 405 and 405G (box bendy) are using 275/R70 22.5 tyres, for the rest, sorry, lapsed in noting the information.

No. Rethreaded tyres, sometimes when produced in large amount are of low quality. These low quality tyres tend to 'break' after sometime. If youre in malaysia, you see a bus using a rethreaded tyre on his front axel is a bad sign. If the rethreaded tyres 'break' when moving at high speed and if it's at the front, the driver would totally unable to steer his vehicle. Hence, it's safer for the driver to use brand new tyres for the front. If you put at the back, the danger is not much, because if one tyre break, the inner tyre will back it up. If the tyres break, the driver can still control his vehicle. 'broken' tyre bits can be dangerous especially on the expressway where those bits can fly and can dent a car body or break their windshield.
