is there actually any speed limiter on SMRT buses??

cos b4 i took this pic, it went up to 80km/hr..!

I have also been on an 188 bus along AYE and have seen the needle go up to 70km/h. When I got off the bus and looked at the windscreen, it did indeed have a speed limiter sticker on the windscreen... Confused

I have also seen SMRT buses with no/not working door interlocks... I have seen Nissans/ELBO Scanias moving with door open. And I even took a Habit with its most rear door open when moving at normal speeds on 187... Shocked

BTW, in that picture, what's the word/figure on the orange speed limiter light?

its written 70km/hr on it.. it flashes when it hits over 70km/hr.. but i think like no use lor..

The fastest I had was 75-80km/h actual speed on a DAF on 985, TIB69XX one... And cameo, cos I dun want to have trouble like the previous people, I follow them not to put exact rego, haha, actually any DAF can...
And that looks to be a batch one Hispano Bendy, hmm...
Bendy on 61 also go try before, erm, 60-65km/h actual speed on Ulu Pandan Road.
All speedometers, AFAIK, displays 105% of (actual speed)-->also known as true speed, in Singapore. Only Police/Government vehicles have exact speeds displayed. Hence 70km/h on speedometer means 66.5km/h true speed.

i also saw a SG coach running at 80km/h at BKE. Overtake here and there. 80km/h my god, and it never slow down, except when want to exit to get to woodlands.
There's even another case where some drivers tamper with their speed limiters and as a result, the meter always stayed at 0 although he might be running at 70.
strangely, MS coaches with are not fitted with speed limiter only run max 60 on our expressway.

If stay at 0 means tampered? Shocked I thought is just the speedo spoilt! Laughing I have seen quite a few SBST buses with the speedo remaining at 0. On some Volvos, the rpm also stays at 0. So when the speedo stays at 0, the limiter doesn;t work? Shocked

scanias and most mk2s dun have speed limiter… SMRT DAFs can speed up till 100 if i not wrong or even higher… only got buzzer sound tee… tee… but v. annoyin

some O405s can cruise up to 70-80km/h on a downslope without acceleration but will slow down to 60km/h when the slope evens.

All buses including the Darts can exceed 70 km/h easily,But again this is SG,The fastest i travel is on Malaysian Coach @ Negri Sembilan where the driver whack 150km/h,I was thinking whether can i back home in one piece or not Laughing

Vehicles on the opposite of the road look always faster, so can joke with urself and take taxi at 100km/h, then the opposite road a DAF speeding at 70km/h would sound like 170km/h, haha...
I saw VO3X with speedometer and tachometer spoilt at same time, but most cases its only one at a time. And SMRT 0405 speedometer would lag at times, when its 20km/h the needle jump up rapidly, low speeds are not recognised immediately.

this picture looks as if it could be parallax error. dunno but sometimes for expressway playing buses… they shd go at least 70. 60 is too darn slow

Simple way to get past speed-limitor:

Disengage gear downhill. I watched the perm VSOs on 161 go past 85km/h. Watch out for this particular BC who knows this trick!

yeah.. SVC 171 always does tat.. but on this bus, it did not do it.. it was on a straight road..

It's when you see something at an angle... Since the needle and the speedo readings are not flat, when you look at it from an angle, it might be a bit off...
