What was the old route of svc 97?

MingFreeman SG

Last time , service 97 plyed between hougang and jurong east. What was its route from hougang to JE?

When I went to hougang, I saw 51, 147, 132, 174 and a few others but never 97 before.

monoslayer SG

97 stop going to hougang ever since the intro of NEL.
jurong east -> west coast -> pasir panjang -> harbourfront -> tanjong pagar -> city hall -> selegie -> boon keng -> serangoon -> hougang
(correct me if i m wrong)

muziq bus SG

174? You are a confused little man... Laughing

Volvo Olympian SG

Old Sv 97 was from Jurong East to Hougang Central - 2 directions

Jurong East Central , Jurong Town Hall Rd , AYE , Bouna Vista Flyover , AYE , Alexandra Rd , Telok Blangah Rd , Keppel Rd , Anson Rd , Robinson Rd , Collyer Quay , Fullerton Rd , St Andrew's Rd , Stamford Rd , Prinsep St , Selegie Rd , Serangoon Rd , Upp Serangoon Rd , Hougang Ave 2 , Hougang Ave 10 , Hougang Central Int

In red is the current route after the rationalisation in 2003

Volvo Olympian SG

174? You are mistaken Laughing

51 and 132 didn't go Hougang Central , It went to Hougang South Int before the Int closed down in 2003.

Y_Shun SG

He meant 74 ? Accidentally pressed one more "1".

105090 SG

97 (and 111) ended at Hougang interchange.. aka Hougang South int. then extended to Hougang Central. in 2003, after NERL opened, amended to loop at Marina Centre

kengkia SG

what abt 106 and 62 and 82??? what was the route like before.?

Volvo Olympian SG

106 was from Bt Batok Int to Serangoon Int , shorten to Marina Centre from Serangoon in 2003

62 originally from New Bridge Rd Ter to Hougang South , route change in 2003 , from Punggol Int to Geylang Lor 1 (loop)

82 originally from Punggol Rd End to Shenton Way , In 2003 , the PGL Rd end Ter close down and currently the route is from Serangoon Int to Punggol Rd End (loop)

All these are due to the NEL Rationalisation

kengkia SG

it reminds me of svc 81 as well ....new bridge rd ter-chinatown-prinsep st-serangoon rd-upper serangoon rd-(current route)...

105090 SG

the Upper Serangoon Road > Bendemeer Road > Jalan Besar > Bencoolen Street> City.. this stretch of road has many many parallel services..

there was 81 82 85 97 103 106 111 147... sadly, only 147 os the sole survivor Laughing

kengkia SG

must leave a hou lu mah should the NEL got problem in the future...toking abt 147....it's quite an idiotproof route...almost 95% are all straight rds compare svc 14 so winding....from HG to city straight den later turn left from bencoolen st into bras basah rd then turn right into hill st den straight again till dover area den turn left into dover mrt area den straight again to clementi int.

MingFreeman SG

woops! its 74, not 174 Embarassed

MingFreeman SG

what happened to svc 111 and 82?

They are no longer in service or are their routes changed?

^tamago^ SG

111 was cut short to loop at marina centre. originally hougang central to ghim moh.

82 was cut short to between serangoon and punggol rd end.... used to be punggol to shenton way. last time when it was under TIBS, a lot of sengkang ppl took it and its bendies were always full. Neutral

ZYX2005 SG

pls go back further

62 Rumah tinngi - mapherson est .

TIB1018B SG

And now, service 82 is downgraded to NAC buses Twisted Evil

Y_Shun SG

haha...bus route got duplicated...then I think young people would choose MRT over buses...so where can possible give AC bus...

MingFreeman SG

How does punggol road end look like?

Is it urbanised like the new punggol now or is it still a rural and forested area like the punggol last time?
