Failure of svc 116

Wouldn't surprise me at all, considering SBST and SMRT are quasi-government companies.

Withdrawal of Service 116

14 August 2006 Service 116, which was introduced on a trial basis in April 2006, will be withdrawn from today (15 Aug 2006) due to a lack of demand.

The service had been on a three-month trial, plying a new route covering Hougang Central Bus Interchange, Hougang Avenue 4 and Buangkok Green Medical Park.

With the withdrawal, commuters can take alternative Services 101, 161 and 325 to get to Institute of Mental Health from Buangkok Green.

I wonder whether the Teachers' Estate Service will be the next to go... Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad

I miss 116 Crying or Very sad
116 is very convenient for people going BLK 1/2/3/4/5/6
116 not convenient for people going BLK 7/8/9/Pelangi as compared to 161 which is much faster.
325 takes a very long route from HG to BGMP.
101 not as long but have to cross overhead bridge.
161 is best alternative, but 116 is still the best, although $1, but it is really fast as compared to 161 which is alternative.
I never see the BGMP Shuttle before (went there many times)
They could make 116 serve all stops along HG Ave 4 at least will have some ridership, they dint have to resort to withdrawal Rolling Eyes

SMRT Buses SG

So how's the ridership for the Teachers' Estate Service so far? If it ain't good then perhaps that will be withdrawn in future too

TIB1018B SG

1-2 pax Sad

PJ_Quek SG

Hmm, thanks everyone for commenting here.
Off topic, svc 109 still can hang on, thanks to the peak passenger of Loyang Ind Estate, serving an "alternative" to svc 89.

SMRT Buses SG

Wow, only 1-2 pax daily ah...I think its because of the cost that's why only that number & I think that service might be withdrawn soon if this continues

TIB1018B SG

Should charge similar fares like service 825 Rolling Eyes

SMRT Buses SG

I hope they will consider doing some fare revision to it or else it might go "extinct" in future

I missed the Sv 116 bus, SBS 586C and the 116 desto plate. feeling shocked that 116 was withdrawn after serving for abt a few months

116.......this service..........much condolences to SBST 116.

Although I did not have any photos of SBST 116, but I have the SBST 116 guides with me.

Its unique desto.............sad to say that it could be seen no more......with the withdrawal...............

It is very much a pity for SBST to cancel sv116.

all these bus services are just part of the service which the operator provides, on a commercial basis.

can make money, deploy more resources
cannot make money, just withdraw it or write it off. very simple

can't be SBS introduce 20 new services, all 20 services sure become overnight successes right? got success sure got failure

whats there to cry or sorrow or sayang sayang about?
