Maybe number 161 and 168 want to learn from those express buses to K.L as from their speed and also their routes which plies mainly on TPE and SLE.

Hi folks,

Do you all noe which are the buses that have part of its route on expressways? Let me start the ball rolling,

Very good. So many ppl so knowledgeable. Mr. Green

Actually most charge normal trunk service fares. The services starting w/ number '5' charges express fares. Very Happy

To add - while Fast Forward routes do not necessary have to ply expressways (remember, their express sectors change according to road conditions), a few of them must travel on an expressway along an express sector due to the way their route is designed. Route 30e is an example - no matter how good or bad the road conditions on and below the Keppel viaduct is, it must climb onto it at it's E.C.P. end and travel via the Benjamin Sheares Bridge (where the A.Y.E. and E.C.P. meet) to reach Fort Road, it's next stop - no other possible or logical routes exist for this sector.

To better rephrase that, Express routes are all in the 500s (502, 506, and 518, as well as the withdrawn or renumbered 501, 505, 507, 508, 511, 512, 520, and 521 routes (to the best of my memory)) range, which I guess is specially reserved for their class of routes.

p.s. Only one of the withdrawn Express routes survive in another form, if I'm right. Route 521 was made into a normal trunk route, extended to Woodlands via B.K.E., and renumbered 963. 963e, the Fast Forward-copycat route, was introduced later.

194, 240 & 251 don’t really travel on the expressway. They use the filter road beside it.

503 as well.

963e aint a fastforward copycat...
it is actually the original slightly amended 521 route....via Bt Batok East Ave 4 instead of Ave 3.

plus! its from Woodlands instead of Bukit Panjang only... fyi for those under a nutshell

Sv139, Sv143 and Sv145 dont use PIE/ Expressway. They only serve Jalan Toa Payoh and does not touch into PIE.

sbst275 SG

The fact being, 1 here used to see Sv 59's notice, saying it might call Jln Toa Payoh, when there's no indication Laughing

168 is an extremely scenic bus ride. TPE – SLE – Woodlands. Passes by lotsa high flyovers and even mandai orchid farm.

926: Flat fare $1.0x. no concession travel.. (that is, no BCP at least)

some more a fare stages fare table is on the guide, together with fare stages, actual distance fare only 85 cents

eX.A.K.R. SG

Agreed, and to a lesser extent, route 161 too. I remember enjoying the view from the front row of the upper deck of a Super Olympian bus on a sunny afternoon when routes 161 and 168 used to have them for all their double-decked buses.

For some reason, I don't get that much of a feeling with the older Olympians that they are now using, though. Maybe it's because of the age of the bus, and that they seem "darker" in some way... Confused

khongovic SG

Actually Jln Toa Payoh is the the stretch of PIE bordering Toa Payoh Town. So technically it is part of PIE. Very Happy

and also Jln Kolam Ayer.
