Hi everyone, I am writing behalf of the people staying in Jurong West St 91. I feel that svc 502 should also turn into Jurong West 91 like 174M. It was because there are more residents here but Pionner rd nth had lesser residents. My friends who stayed in Blk 906 had to walk out all the way to Ave 5. He had another option to take 99 or 242 out, but that make him spent more. So I trying to get support frm this forum to hope that SBS Transit would consider to make this amendment. I guess the company would not want to lose passengers in JW st 91 as there are more people staying along there compared to Pioneer Rd. Please make some comments..

Pioneer rd north will have more residents soon as HDB is trying to sell off the fats , plus more facitlites are coming up to " attract residents "

* Pioneer Mrt station
* Sports Hub

and it is also a " easier" link to Soon lee for BCs . st 91/92 residents could just have a 5-10mins walk to the busstop @ blk 978 or blk 834 , and if 502 calls at st 91 it will partialy be duplicating the route of svc 99 .

not many commuters will pay to board the express bus to go to jurong west/east avenue 1(unless they plan to go to orchard rd) as svc 99 also calls along that area same as the express bus route , and the express bus charges are higher which commuters would rather take 99 .

i stay along jurong west ave 5 blk 832 , i notice that most of the commuters on svc 99 after looping from st 91 are "senior citizens " . in the morning peak it is students .

if 502 gets ammended to st 91 , there will not be much passenger load during off peak hours . since it duplicates the 99 route , students will take that to reach their schools along jurong east/west ave 1 , during morning peak . Commuters would rather take 99 than paying double taking the express bus ...i noticed that along jurong west ave5 , if the 99 bus comes packed to the door , students will then take the 502 bus , if the bus is not packed the students will rather take 99 than 502 .

And , the main purpose of 502 to call @ pioneer north is the new Jurong west sports complex ( which is in its final stages ) , so that it would provide a direct link (besides 179 ,192 ,193) to the residents to the sports complex . so that residents from all over jurong west , jurong east can have easier/ convenient acces to the place . as you know the jurong east sports complex is always packed and it "outdated" , as in it is not that fun anymore , more people would want to visit the new sports complex & facilities ( this include waterslides , stadium , indoor sports hall ,etc ) there . This would bring in more revenue to SBS Transit .

I would prefer for the bus to maintain its exitsitg route to call @ Pioneer Rd north. Very Happy

In your letter, should state your real identity. Also recommended that you draw up a route to modify the present route for the ops side to consider. Because routes are not said want to change then change. Becos it involves the strategical locations for the bus to travel with the least safety implications, highest revenue, any clashes with other routes etc etc. Must go through a lot of layers of checks.

No doubt in order to improve the quality of SBST, the public commuters with constructive ideas are best to get involved too.

Around 65% in St 91 residents work in Orchard Rd and Suntec.

ok, i knew that 502 ply the same road as 99. It had a slight different. 502 ply along Jurong Junior College to Jurong West and Toh Guan (IMM). 502A also made a very big different to 99. You dun tell me that people in the Orchard rd come all the way to Jurong west for the sports complex?

To make a different. 502 can turn into the bus stop beside the Prime Market along St 91 (Blk 962).After that, bus can turn before Blk 931 and turn to JW St 93. Additional bus stop can be added at the Sports complex. Next, it can still turn out to Soon Chow depot. This road is often used by 174M. This would better serve St 93 (Blk 976) residents as there are no bus service there and they got to walk out. When rains, it would be a inconvience one.

Pioneer Rd north residents had nearly up to zero passangers everytime. Only buses drivers frm soon chow depot in the bus. It is a waste of diesel taking that road. It was like what i say above, more residents in st 91.

3. 502 is amended so Boon Lay Int will not become overcrowded daliy & the buses will not be packed liked starting from Boon Lay Int.
4. Maybe SBS Transit will extend either svc 99 or 242 to loop at Jurong West St 93 to provide residents living in Jurong West St 91 to Pioneer Stn???

2. i always see ppl take 6 stops of Ct8 (within AMK), once some woman took CT8 board/ alight all within ave 10

overall, yeah, jurong west is very big, need more transport and shopping centres for the residents there..

Another reason would be they would take Express 506 within Bedok/Eunos(Seen lots of times) as it is cheaper for non-concession.

EVEN when there is Sv66 which is 100% duplicate, people still take the premier services in Bedok (looks like most people are rather impatient)

CT8 has some parts of the route that does not duplicate with any other service, hence there may be more internal pax.

Maybe 502A can be changed to ply St91/93 instead of 502?

Hello, Jurong East Residents can take 99 and switch to 192, 193, 179, 243.
99 frequency better lor then 502. If the bus go st 93, ALSO still can reach sports complex. Pls read the map.. Thank you..

and btw the express bus 502A starts around 7.30 so what the heck has it got to do with St 91 residents , and most of the st 91 residents are old apek and amah ! sitting @ coffeshops , only abt 40% are students & teens .
and u complain so much after 8am+ most of the 242 buses are bunching and are partially empty , so what are you complaining abt .

Twisted Evil Hey, there is true quite a no of elderly in the coffeeshop. Pls, DO U KNOW most of the people came from ave 5. It was because they do not had a large and cheap coffeeshop there. 502A starts at 7.30am, u r rite. IT CAN REACh before 8.30and 9 rite. Do u know, old blocks behind st 91 had opened and there r a lot residents. EVEN Boon Lay (BLK 18 Cool residents may need to move there. I had a ntu frenz too, he says he also got to take 179 (which need to wait for a long time) down to take 502 back as he leaves in toh Guan.

NTU students can take at st 91 and need nt pay for addition bus fare or wait for 2 buses. They can walk across the bridge(PIE). Do u know os fustrating to wait for 2 buses.

About 242, U gt try to Queue up and boon lay INt frm 7.45- 9pm. The line is as long to the MRT station. Most were working in the city. EVen 242 got into st 91 during peak hours, the bus is as pack as it come out frm the INT

Hello, aft 9am the bus is still pack as u say a lot of elderly there . They took 242 to st 91 for the wet market. DO u see wet market in Jurong west ave 5. Pls do some research before u reply something nasty. Evil or Very Mad

2. If you get up early, you can take svc 242, transfer to MRT, eat your breakfast, rest for while bef starting work rather than waiting for & taking Expess 502 to work unless you are lazy to wake up early & is a very impatient person...

4. That could be 1 of the reason why SBS Transit didn't amended Express 502 to St 93.
Also Jurong West Extension is expanding the past few yrs & LTA is going to bulid Pioneer Stn along St 63 which is quite near to St 93, so they expected the residents living around St 93 to walk to Pioneer Stn just like the Buangkok Stn case... Mr. Green

6. My friend & I lived near Pioneer Rd Nth but we walked from there to the crowded Boon Lay Int/MRT Stn daliy to work/play... as 192/193 need to wait very long & go a small round bef Boon Lay Int, 502 very expensive to us as we just started working...

Dont quite agree with you for this point. Some people may really need to sleep more and/or have more time and in hurry at certain times, this kinda case can be seen very commonly along Bedok Rsvr where Express 506 and Service 66 EXACTLY duplicates each other, with 506 being the more expensive one

You want NTU students to walk across the unsheltered bridge over PIE rather than sitting comfortably in buses to NTU whereas YOU CAN TAKE AIR-CON BUSES TO WORK??? Shocked

BUT 242 GOT DEPLOYED DOULBE DECKS DURING PEAK HRS AS COMPARED TO 240, 243G & 243W SDs!!!

ALSO I SAW 4 HALF-FILLED SVC 242 BUSES(3SD+1DD) GOING TO BOON LAY INT AFT MORNING PEAK HRS...

243G/W also suffered the fate but with introduction of 181, 243G & 243W still packed like sardines from/to Boon Lay Int during peak hrs

I know that some people may really need to sleep more but why can't you wake up early & take a short sleep on bus/MRT to work???

If you are in hurry at certain times but why didn't you plan the faster way by taking a taxi???

Got money to take Express svc but no money to take taxi when you are in a hurry or late... Laughing

Hello, I am working in Orchard. I need a direct bus.(Nowadays MRT still need to wait for 5min even at Boon Lay Stn). I had my breakfast in my office. Actually 502 is not veri EX. If u compare the time and fare, it is actually comparable. 502, u can sleep all the way when u get into the bus. (Not like Transfer bus to MRT) Mrt also very crowded, may cause breating difficulty.

PIONEER MRT ONLY COMPLETE AT 2009. 3 YEARS LATER.

if u got watch tv, boon lay residents most of them moving to St 93. If there is an additon bus stop, this can prepare for Pionner stn. But for now, It can link them to Toh Guan, Orchard, Suntec.

174E/174 still need to change 99, why dun u try waiting the bus in the nite, all r packed. Even DD. (You never know when u experience it.)

242 again, u really got to try taking 242 in 8.00pm-8.45pm. Hello those DD last bus is 7.45pm. Only one non- aircon DD starts at 8.45pm. Try then say la..

City harvest pple can take 502 to orchard/suntec in st 91. Do u know alot of pple there?
