Eight children and a teacher were injured on Monday morning in an accident involving two buses.

The crash happened at about 10am outside the Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange.

An SMRT bus was leaving the interchange to turn into Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 when it collided into a school bus taking the children from a swimming pool back to Mayflower Primary School.

The blue Comfort bus's rear windscreen was smashed and glass shards lay on the ground - a testament to the desperate attempt to rescue 60 schoolchildren trapped in the vehicle.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force sent two ambulances to the scene, and the injured children were taken to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

The teacher was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

No one from the SMRT bus was injured.

A SCHOOL bus carrying 64 Mayflower Primary School pupils and two of their teachers flipped on its side after a collision with a public bus near the school yesterday afternoon.

All of them managed to crawl out of a smashed back window with the help of passers-by within 10 minutes of the crash, which happened at 10.19am in Ang Mo Kio.

But eight children suffered injuries ranging from abrasions to a fractured elbow and were treated as outpatients at KK Women's and Children's Hospital. One of the teachers was treated for leg bruises at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The accident happened as the pupils were being ferried back to school after a swimming lesson at Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex.

The school bus collided with an SMRT bus coming out from the Ang Mo Kio bus interchange just two minutes away from the primary school.

Poor little kids, all are stunned by this experience.

Noticed the middle of bus left is dented from the new report last night, does it mean the CAC MB O4O5 driver did not apply the brakes???

The time of post at hwz is 12.04am. Last sv187 bus leaves Boon Lay Int at 12am. I passed by there at 1.30am...the SBST bus was already at the bus stop & the SMRTB bus was no where in sight.

I can't see the situation of the picture, so whose driver's fault is it? The 187 bus seems to be turning... Confused

samtlk SG

It was turning right from Jurong West St 51 into Jurong West Ave 1. The 334 bus was travelling along Jurong West Ave 1 in the opposite direction.
