105090 SG at 8am today At first i thought.. whoa! some sale going on.. then i go nearer and see.. the sale seems to be ending at sv70 Queue! on my trip back at 7pm, whoa! 3 more snaking Queues.. more great sales? i doubt so.. and yes.. its sv72 Queue! sv76 is no better! the frequency for 72 must had been near 15mins! of course, to maximise profits, longer frequency is inevitable. most important is send a DD, make it fully pack.. no good if send 2 buses, but only half-filled.. might as well make a 2-in-1. World Class Queues with Wrold Class fares indeed
Apex-LW'21 SG Hmm... a bit off-topic. Last time, Sv 170 also experience long queues every weekend because ppl want to go to Johor Bahru, the queues were formed until the overhead bridge near Kranji MRT.
sinicker SG this one nvm. S170 so rapid. this still happens on weekday PM peak. but 105090 is trying to highlight abt buses that are already going to start from the interchange itself! man, this is preposterous.
alex_cai92 SG hmmm…AFAIK, svc72 freq is 5mins during peak…but still cannot sustain the load…its really a cash cow…
storywolf SG What the problem with 5min per bus ? May not be perfect but still good. Travel to outside singapore, yes see for yourself other people transport !!
alex_cai92 SG i din say gt problem...i jus say tat, no matter how gd the freq is, in this case 5min, 72 still has a long queue, cannot sustain load...even @ 11pm at night...the bus is Full Seating + a few Standee, which brings alot of money to SBST, a cash cow...
muziq bus SG At least SMRT releases 190 once every 5 minutes just to avoid this situation…. still, the buses are packed…. i don’t see y SBST can’t do so… utilise the VSO from the Citibuzz la…simple ma… i guess
alex_cai92 SG it is almost the same... http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/sbstravelguide/number_result.asp?busnumber=72 http://www.smrtbuses.com.sg/busguide/busfrequency.asp?busno=190&x=13&y=24
brotherchen1982 SG Must remember that Yio Chu Kang Ter is restricted number of parking spaces & movement of buses so not many buses can going into the Ter at 1 go... Also it's a Ter not Int, so it does haven't big queue area like Int, therefore ppl have to queue up to MRT Stn area... Why don't you suggest closing down of Yio Chu Kang Ter & extend all svcs to Ang Mo Kio new Int when it's ready???
freestyle SG yes i notice that everyday if i take bus home. but the frequency for 72 is quite fast as compared to 162
hiphop2009 SG u will be thankful of our public transport system if u ever get ride on our neighbouring countries' buses....... let say 30 min per interval?...... 15 min or 5 min interval will not kill u..........
hseochin SG EXACTLY in situations like these, ultra-high capacity buses like the M-B CapaCity would 'swallow' up the queues quick enough before it's allowed to form too long again & they don't even need to deploy too many units & too many drivers too !! Come to really think of it, in a so-called 1st world like Singapore there's no more excuse for long queues like these unlike in the 3rd world like Malaysia etc. where cheap land & cheap private cars are plentiful hence far less incentive for top class public transport system there !
hiphop2009 SG hmm dats true..... if the situation is too much or jia lat den time for the operators to reflect.....after all many singaporeans gave up buying cars becoz firstly, it is too expensive!......secondly our transport system is good.....
hseochin SG In Johor Baru e.g. the frequency say on Transitlink 180 seems to be 1 per hour whether during day or night. But alternative means of transport are relatively cheaply available so even then, it's far less ground for complains. But in a place like Singapore, with top class prices for almost every other thing, there's hardly much room for excuses !
elawee SG aparantly u ppl have not taken public transports in other 1st world countries like Australia n Europe. The bus frequency there is at on avg 20mins interval...n that is during PEAK period. Off peak (after 5pm) u can wait up to an hr. And most bus services stop after 7pm in Aussie. Cabs? The distance between orchard to sembawang is abt 30mins (smooth traffic, within speed limit) n will cost abt $14. In Australia, the same distance will easily cost you AUS$30-$40, Europe...EURO$40. So stop complaining about Singapore's Public transport. It can be worse.
