Would there be anything like an opening ceremony or something of that sort? SBST had something like that when opening new interchanges... Cool

WiNtEr'SkiLL SG

cool!!!!

MeOwSuSan SG

you stay there ???

sinicker SG

it may be possible.. maybe another round of bus rationalisation just because of duplication?!?! Laughing

tib935k SG

will there be some of yishun thrunk services be admended to serve sembawang bus interchange?

SBS 233 X SG

Service 859 was amended to call at Sembawang Int.

Except for 859, all the proposed route changes for the new interchange have no significant benefits to S'wang residents. (For 859, it links up the entire S'wang town, benefitting those living in northern part of S'wang)

S'wang really lacks direct links to the east (Hougang, Sengkang, Punggol, Pasir Ris, Tampines, Changi). SMRT has no incentive to detour 858, 969, 965 to S'wang and make the journey longer to and from W'lands.

Hope that SBST takes up the challenge, maybe extend 39. Don't think its justifiable to detour 161 and 168 to S'wang also.

lol, blame it on Gambas Ave,
858, 965 and 969 uses Gambas Ave, which perhaps is the fastest link for Yishun and Woodlands residents to travel to and fro, intentionally skipping sembawang estate

meaning these 3 semi-express svcs are catered to benefit only yishun and woodlands residents, sembawang residents have no share in these services

if there is no Gambas Ave, these 3 svcs have to pass by sembawang

just like semi express sv 966 directly linking woodlands and eunos/marine parade via BKE and PIE
i won't be surprised in months to come, this service will make a detour to bt panjang estate

for SBW residents, i think SMRT wants them to take the train to Khatib then take 858/965/969 to the Changi Airport/Sengkang/Tampines. for the die-die-want-to-sit-down kind of people, take the train to WDL. SBW is a small town.. i don't think SMRT is willing to put more services there.. SBW is likely to be today's Simei. SBW is already better than Simei at this moment.

Edgar_Davids SG

ya at least we have 167 and 980 which take you directly to orchard, town area and CBD

simei only has sv 12 to city

im officially pissed cause they took my 980 and placed it at the sembawang int..now i need to go allll the way to the interchange to catch that bus. they haddddd to cut short the route. why don they just make 980 go one round b4 going into the interchanfe..haiyo…i was expecting better things with the opening of a bus interchange.

With the opening of Sembawang Interchange and intro of svc 882, I wonder whether some of the existing bus svcs be re-numbered in the near future?

eg:
980 renumbered as 880
167 renumbered as 887
981 renumbered as 881

Technically speaking, Simei is part of Tampines, while Sembawang is a New Town in its own right.

There can be routes from SBW to PGL via YIS, if SMRT can help it. I don't think SBST is interested, for they seem to be having a squeeze on their fleet at the moment.

dmbpj SG

they could….but havent this buses been around for ages….if they change…its a legacy lost…but thats nonsense. its possible but ill lean more to a no. id rather they save those numbers for bettter services.

So the New Service 882 will be under which Depot control will it be under AMDEP or WLDEP ?. Smile

Apex-LW'21 SG

I think 882 will be controlled by both AMDEP & WLDEP, just like Svc 167 & 980.

5454 SG

Ok that would be cool anyway wonder what type of buses would be deployed on service 882. Smile

sinicker SG

i think 882 would be solely controlled by WDLEP.

for service 882, i think only abt 2-4 buses are required. no need two depots to control it.

AMDEP controlled 167/980 coz' it's nearer to Bukit Merah/Geylang Lor 1 respectively. need to send out first bus quickly.
