Let me get this clear,SBS Transit basic pay is far more higher than SMRT Buses,But in allowances SMRT Buses ones are slightly higher than SBST.Overall when they take monthly pay it is nearly the same.

SBS Transit Double-Decker allowances per day $4
SMRT buses Bendy allowances per day $8
SBST Monthly accident free bonus $80-6 Month acc free $380
SMRTB Monthly accident free bonus $120-150-6 month acc free $500(not sure)
SBST Starting basic pay $1200(Unlike previous $936-1000 depends on class of licence)
SMRTB Starting basic pay $654-755
SBST are prone to speed trap,Public complaints& Early arrivals SMRTB are quite relaxed in terms of regulation except for early arrivals
SBST bonuses are twice a year
SMRTB bonuses are thrice a year
SBST BC are quite relaxed in terms of working off day/Continued another shift/trip
SMRTB are quite hectic in term of being forced to work 2 shift/Off days due to shortage of manpower

Overall SBST BCs earn around $1.400-$2,500(salary twice a month)
Overall SMRTB SCs earn around $1,300-$2,300(salary twice a month)
Both are excluding CPF cut

Can earn some money is good enough loh… Somehow, earning bread and butter in Singapore very difficult sia. However ah, to me, if I can earn a little to fill myself and my family members full, it’s gd enough.

Wah SMRT pay is quite low if they want to have pay increase for their driver and staff, they should stop using the LCD screens which used in every buses costing them $3000! They can use the plate just like SBST and can save money and those money and be used for the driver,staff salary increase or purchases of their buses which they have shortage of them. Recently SMRT are employing old people for their job with the help of the workforce by doing this will they still face manpower shortage?

I am not surprised that many SMRT bus drivers hail from Malaysia. Although the pay is low by our standards, when it is converted to RM, it is almost 2x as much. Don't forget that standards of living in Singapore have dropped to that of Malaysia, but at a higher cost.

Anyway bus driver is a true blue collar job which we will take on as a last resort for survival like a Taxi driver... imagine no toilet break , irregular meal , complaitns from passenger other road user ...

erm, they are Electronic Destination Sign(EDS) by LED. and maintaining it do not cost high monthly, i believe but i think changing ALL of them to desto plate will cost more + they have to print so many and install the holders to hold the plate...

Then how about those old folks being employed by SMRT which the workforce encouraged companies to do that. You can see SMRT are employing old folks which are reported in recent ST newspaper are they employing a lot of them or just only a few then show off to everybody that they have employed old folks and like that???

Ex-SBS/SBST whom had a riff/bad records/been terminates previously works at SMRTB as their second option but it is not vice-versa usually Cool
