It's all about lining the pockets of those executives and directors. Do service captains get any pay rise even after fare increases? Rolling Eyes

i dont understand the amendments at mountbatten road at all.. basically it means bus services will use sims way instead of mountbatten road?
and apparently, purpose of 158A and 158B is to facilitate students from dunman high school... Question

samtlk SG

yes...mountbatten road will be permenantly closed to traffic
http://app.lta.gov.sg/corp_press_content.asp?start=1258

^tamago^ SG

yes, bus services will now use sims way. the realignment of mountbatten rd, permanent closure of the section of mountbatten rd between sims way and people's assn and the extension of sims way into upp boon keng is part of the whole KPE construction plan. tis will allow a direct link to upp boon keng from mountbatten rd, have some developmental control for the land above the KPE tunnel (cannot anyhow have buildings). also, the plot of land freed up by closing mountbatten rd will also make plans for developing the area more flexible.

Are there new service guides for these affected services?

iveco SG

Will Upp Boon Keng Rd be extended to Kallang Baru in future?

^tamago^ SG

i think yes, via Geylang Bahru Extension.

Layover at Sims Place terminal.

Buses can be diverted to ply Nicoll Highway instead of Raffles Link.

samtlk SG

Closure: Raffles Avenue (between Raffles Link and Esplanade Drive)
http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/traffic/road_closure.html

can go Nicoll Highway meh?

lemon1974 SG

Dun think so.
But since today is the first rehearsel, and Tom, Raffles Link will be closed, there should be signboards at Raffles Link and i think SBST will noticed it. Think for the next few rehearsels/parades, the SBST buses, wont go into Marina area.

btw, SMRT is smarter, all its buses does not go into Marina Area, during the parade period.

samtlk SG

a lot of BCs took wrong turn & end up in Kallang

tranquilice SG

The SBST route diversion map did not state that this stretch of Raffles Ave was closed. Confused

For the next upcoming diversions, buses will have to turn right from Raffles Ave into Temasek Ave, go round the fountain and use Temasek Blvd and Rochor Rd to get out of Marina Centre. As for service 36 and Express 518, they may skip the entire Marina Centre and Suntec City area by going straight to ECP from Ophir Rd.
