160 / 170

Took 160 to JB yesterday from Jurong East, and noticed that SBST has amended the fare stages. Previously, when one boarded at Jurong East interchange, the fare stage is 10, so that when 160 meets 170 along Woodlands Road, the fare stage would be the same.

However, the fare stage at Jurong East is now 1 instead of 10. Moreover, I think SBST counts the leg from JB Kastam to Larkin as a separate route for those transfering from 160. I noticed that the EZ link reader read transfer and deducted $0.38 (I think so, I was not wearing glasses) but I was sure that it read transfer even when I took nothing before 160.

Also, does anyone of you know which 170 travelling towards JB will make one big round at Woodlands before calling at the Woodlands Checkpoint?

The full route of 170 will make one round of WDL centre before heading to the Customs checkpoint. 170X goes directly to WDL checkpoint.

heard of the change in fare stages but i think none of us have investigated on whether it is still compatible with x-ferring to 170 or not.

if getting the 9-digit ez-link card number and log on to this page for a query of ur ez-link card transactions for the past 3 days.

and wat iveco mentioned was correct bout making a loop at Woodlands Centre Rd. to add on, note that only green front plate 170 with QUEEN ST and JOHOR BAHRU wordings will call at bus stops along Woodlands Centre Rd, and if u're boarding from there, kindly confirm the direction it is travelling to (Queen St or JB) as both directions make the loop at Woodlands Centre Rd.

the blue front/side plate 170's (known as 170X) will go straight into Woodlands Checkpoint from Kranji MRT and Woodlands Rd.

hmm...just checked online, and the breakdown is as such:
-$1.23 from Jurong East (along Jurong Town Hall Road Stage 3.0) to JB Kastam
-$0.40 from JB Kastam to Larkin

For rides originating from JB, there's no problem for the EZ-link as I pay in cash--pay in RM compared to S$ using EZ-link. Razz

Is boarding and alighting allowed for service 170X aka blue plate at any bus stop between Kranji MRT station and Woodlands checkpoint?

Along Woodlands Rd? Yes.

If I'm not wrong, I think they even have 170X plates along those bus stops.
