Service 72 was extended to Tampines in March 1998, when it merged with former service 80.

Former service 80 was introduced in Sep 1996, to replace the route of service 81 along (Old) Tampines Rd, when the latter was amended to ply TPE due to the opening of Pasir Ris Dr 12 and the modification of Elias Rd junction with TPE. Withdrawn in March 1998 with the extension of service 72 to Tampines.

MAJJOR Question!!

Service 107 weekdays schedule:
Last bus from HG is 1930
Last bus from Shenton Way is 1930

BUT first 107X from HG to marina is 1948.

means:
last 107 bus to reach Beach road (towards HG)is about 1945. then pax who is boarding at say beach road unlucky miss the last 107 bus has to wait for the first 107X bus to come to marina centre and loop back towards HG, then he can board back towards HG?
like that means wait one hour in between.

can anyone clarify?

sBs_boy SG

huh ?? your question is very confusing.. anyway, the Freq between the 1st bus of 107X and the last bus of 107 is like just 18mins.. no needa wait 1 hr mahx.. and... if someone wans to go back to HGN from Beach rd, there wont be anyone who is so stupid to ride a big round at marina center. and, if you board the last bus, most of the time, the driver will kinda infom the passengers that this is the last bus to Shenton Way same goes to the first bus of 107X.. He will infrom passengers that he is NOT going to Shenton Way but Marina Center instead...

^tamago^ SG

i understand wat u mean, but fret not, such things will never happen.

let's see:

empty 107X (hougang) will start from raffles blvd/pan pacific hotel from 7.55pm onwards.

tis first 107X bus will reach beach rd/opp the gateway at 8.02pm; the last 107 bus will reach tis bus stop at 7.50pm. so pax at beach rd need not worry.

the arrangement continues until the first 107X full-route bus from hougang reaches pan pacific hotel at 8.35pm.

so for 40 minutes, there will be "downroute" 107X that start mid-way trips from pan pacific hotel.

the buses that reach shenton way after 7.30pm either goes to pan pacific hotel to do "downroute", head back to hougang for a full-route 107X trip or head back to hgdep cos their T shift has ended.

fyi, the last 107 bus terminates at shenton way ter at 8.41pm.

does this practice applies to other services? service 3 is an example i think. what about services 30, 51?

leeJZ SG

Alot of services have downroutes. For example S30 has trips starting from HarbourFront towards Boon Lay.

^tamago^ SG

most of the trunk services have such practice, either downroute or shortworking trips. even some feeders do so too.

tis is a rather old list about early downroutes. but downroutes can happen anytime in the day. so dun think buses simply run from one terminal to another.

tranquilice SG

Before that (until the 90s), there was a traffic lights junction at the junction of ECP and Fort Rd, before Tanjong Rhu flyover came to exists.
