Delgro, owns SBS Transit who runs the NEL and bus service. As you know Delgro is a 'big' company. Not only this rumours spreading around among SBST drivers but also in the stock market as well. Of course not to mention this also spreading like hotcakes in $MRT, who runs $MRT Train/LRT/Bus/Taxi.

You may have notice that the share price of $MRT stands at around 93 - 95.5cents/share.

$MRT just 'R' 46 positions on tuesday. This 'R' will goes on for sometime. They had already 'R' quit a number of positions to keep cost down for the pass year. This is unavoidable if you are running a transportation line. However I believe this got something to do with merge. Problem is: WHO BUY OVER WHO?????????????????????????????????????

If you compare the $$$ asset of $MRT and Delgro, of course you know who the winner lah. $MRT belongs to 'T.H' and Delgro ( I not too sure ).

Hmmmmmm.........just wait and see whats gonna happen in June 2005.

SMRT is majority owned by Temasek Holdings (i tink) whose chief is Mdm Ho Ching...who is the wife of our PM.

Comfort Delgro is majority owned bythe NTUC or something like tat...hmmm....which is of course related to the govt.

To think there is even any "competition" in the first place. All transportation assets (buses included) belong directly or indirectly to the government. For real competition to take place, one company (maybe SMRT) should sell a huge stake to an outside operator (like Connex). After all, even London's Metroline is property of ComfortDelGro, so why can't we practice reciprocity?

I really, really do not believe that there is going to be a merger. It's impossible. SMRT just repainted almost all their buses, it would be a waste of money if they had to repaint again.

Unless...because they know they are going to merge, that's why they did not paint the smrt buses in very,very nice livery Razz

If you are not happy with his attitude, try calling for his suspension like what has been done to Smilebigbig (requested by Jusgal) or Sibeysuaykia (courtesy of Lilogirl).

Connex is still richer than ComfortDelgro. They have operations in more cities worldwide.

If the marriage of SMRT bus and SBST comes true, it may not be too bad, at least some improvements may be observed in Yew Tee and Sembawang.

SBST has more resources and initiatives, the marriage may enable SbST to channal their excess resources to Yew Tee.

I would prefer there is only 1 bus(SBST) and 1 train (SMRT) operator after the marriage, rather than 1 bus(owned by SBST and SMRT) and 2 trains (SBST and SMRT) operators.
