I suppose things have gotten worse. The new management has went all the way to cut costs, eliminating unnecessary staff. A driver told me that even those conductors who keep track of bus timings are terminated, leaving the entire timing integrity to the computers. Break times reduced to squeeze bus captains dry. Cleanliness compromised; look at the interior nowadays. Dirt everywhere.

If things go on this way, I rather SMRT Buses merge with SBS Transit.

So far the spotlight has been on SMRT. What of other GLCs like SingTel? Don't make sweeping statements condemning ALL the GLCs based on one company that runs the subways.

No choice, what to do. New, younger management will normally sweep the place clean.

TIBS' former reputation, standards are slowly being shredded into pieces by SMRT. It's a rail operator, and should remain solely so. Its current way of managing bus operations are dismal, at least to me.

SMRT top management, if you're reading this, please wake up and stop sinking your bus subsidiary into worse waters. Alas, I doubt anyone will care. Evil or Very Mad

What we know was what the press reported. It was stated in the newspspers that SBS edged out Tibs for the NEL tender and the latter would merge with SMRT.

I think that SMRT is more interested in its rail operation. The acqusition of Tibs was to help their MRT system, not integrate them together. Only 2 major changes were made, and neither were routes of any MRT line.

Your statement is true in terms of customer satisfaction. BUT if we are talking about economically, SMRT is doing better. they operate less buses on these buses, frequency longer. More people wait, they get more money.
