Eh sv196 from Marine Parade to Jurong Int, then Clementi then Buona Vista then Clementi again. btw sv196 was introduced to replace sv15 between MArine Parade...

Marsiling terminal (near block 19 hawker centre).

Now gone only an empty field left. I love this bus terminal. After work or meeting frens, can order take aways from the hawker centre. Before Woodlands Central and Causeway point existed, this was the so called Marsiling Central.

sv 182 - New Bridge Road (later diverted to Shenton way) via Bt Timah Rd, Orchard Rd.

sv 180 - Anson Road (later to WTC) Via Bt Timah Rd, Clemenceau Ave, Havelock Road, Upp Cross st. Donno why it was withdrawn 1990. Miss this bus, sigh.

sv 950 - Senton Way. First aircon bus in Woodlands. Via BKE, PIE Ophir Rd, Collyer quay, Raffles place. Well Planned!! Pride of Marsilians and Woodlanders!

sv 951 - Boon Lay. Quick connection to Boon Lay via BP, Bt Batok Road. Sv178 ridership drops. Introducing DAF hispanos.

sv 952 - Marina Centre. Via BKE, PIE, Scotts rd, Orchard Rd, Somerset and all. Another Pride of Marsilians and Woodlanders! Excellent route! Businessman, teenagers, kids, adults, ah peks, aunties and all board this service!! Featured MBO405 hispano.

All of these services had been withdrawn. Now left the useless sv 960.. which is a waste of time passing thru Bt Panjang.

To be precise, Sv 951 was the first to have DAFs hispano. Full fleet some more. I know cos I live nearby the terminal. That time Sv 950 still using air-con Hino with the sliding door. Peace.

The guy with a bino is the mascot for the Singapore Explorer. The bus stop with the mascot marks the stop for a particular place of interest. The Singapore Explorer was sort of a pass which allows tourists to enjoy rides on SBS buses. Not sure when it was discontinued or why.

Minor route change for 30 via Teban Gdns Rd in the direction of Boon Lay.
98 was made to loop at Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim (like 98A). Later integrated with 247 to form current route.
165 was amended to Clementi
184 was merged with 176 to form present 176 (Bt Panjang - Bt Merah)
188 still terminate at Jurong Bus Park, which was next to the demolished Jurong Interchange. Withdrawn in 1991.
198 was amended to Jurong East in 1991. In 1993, it was amended to its present route Boon Lay - Bt Merah. On the same day, 197 was amended to Jurong East.
179 was an entirely new service to cover the loss of 199 when the latter was amended to NIE.
When 206 was withdrawn, 172 was amended to Boon Lay while a new service 175 was introduced.

Hmm.. u can't really say tat.. It may seem useless but it seems very useful for me and all ppl living in Bt Panjang as tat svc is the only direct service tat passes thru Bugis area.. Compared to MRT's NS Line, svc 960 is much more faster and takes lesser time for us to reach bugis area.. Same logic applies for 171 where tat is the only direct svc tat goes to Yishun.. Wink

Mid to late 90s

901, now 911.
902, now 912.
904,905, 906.
These 3 svcs were withdrawn due to low demand. 2 of them merged to form 913.
Also 900. Withdrawn due to same reason. But unlike those 3 which lasted only a few months, 900 was actually quite old. 900, 901, 902, 903, used to use the NAC Hinos, then they switched to MB0405s, those were the days when Woodlands was still quite ulu, hence the MB0405s often sped and your hair could have blown away on the NAC MB0405s! 904, 905, 906 used NAC MB0405s throughout their short lives.

911 was partially aircon, and it brings back good memories of myself on the occasional DAFs on 911. And then it was the cameo MB0405Gs that provided the excitment.
