Nestle introduces Low Fat Milkmaid Sweetened Condensed Milk

sbst275 SG

If you have read Sunday Life section, there is this full page ad Laughing

That Carnation Low Fat Evaporated Milk has been arround for many years liao, still remembered it was made in Australia and not Thailand today

They used Teh Tarik as the ad selling point

But no use, hawkers will still use Sweeteners as it is abt $15 cheaper per ctn than Condensed Milk

P.S This new product will cost more

Wanda SG

The low fat evap milk is very thin, gotta add a lot to tea, and still, it doesn’t taste as good as the normal teh-si made with full cream evap milk. Well, there’s always a trade-off.

coffeeortea SG

just like how fat free milk tastes like crap to me the first few times i drank it.. its normal to me now cuz im so used to it

dragg SG

why take condensed milk if one is afraid of the fat?

sbst275 SG

You need it for beverages like Milo

But this product will end up not popular as it will cost more, neither will hawkers use it

Wanda SG

What's the diff btn sweetener and condensed milk? Both look the same.

All the while I thot the kopi shops had been using condensed milk. Question

coffeeortea SG

unless the lowfat can taste like the reguar ones.. i doubt many people will buy it. either sacrifice taste or blood sugar level

Wanda SG

Since that ad came out, the Fairprice near my place ran out of stock of the low fat evap milk. And Prime mkt at my place started stocking it.

All thanks to the teh tarek hoo har. Laughing

dragg SG

i wonder if the new product is as good. condensed milk seems 'irreplaceable'.

ShrodingersCat SG

I always think evaporated milk tastes better leh… make the tea so rich and creaaaammy even the low fat version worrrr

ditzy SG

The milkmaid name is a big hoohah itself. Laughing

Wanda SG

Oh yeah...court case or something. Razz

Gazelle SG

what is the difference between a sweentener and condenesed milk? i thought they are the same??

ditzy SG

One sweetens the drink and makes it white at the same time, the other makes drinks white and swetens it also at the same time. Laughing

kalangkabo SG

condensed milk may not be sweetened (no added sugar)
most condensed milk available in supermarkets are sweetened
the only ones that i know that are not sweetened are the carnation brand ones...
used to make bandung Mr. Green and teh C

ditzy SG

That's evaporated milk, not unsweetened condensed milk duh. Laughing

kalangkabo SG

they're the same mah... Confused

ditzy SG

No they're not. Laughing If they are, they won't take effort to name it "evaporated".

Wanda SG

Wait for sbst275 to answer the question. Laughing

Gazelle SG

Those used for bandung and Teh C are Evaporated milk lah.
