This isn't exactly related to what is being discussed at the moment, but it still does apply to the main topic.
It seems that most, if not all, of the buses SBS uses for their Malaysia route are not exactly new buses. Some of these buses are even non-air-conditioned! I don't know how much good this would do to the image of Singapore buses... anyone agree?

Speaking of Malaysian buses, the next time I go to Malaysia I would try taking some photographs of these buses. I remember taking standing in front of some of the buses and taking photographs of them a few years ago when I was twelve, I think. By now the fleet of the various companies could have been renewed.

The buses currently on services 160 and 170 are MK3s. The previous fleet of MK2 WA NAC on service 170 was removed when the service converted from NAC to FAC in Nov 2001.

I certainly do not agree. ALL SBS buses deployed on both Services 160 and 170 are AIR-CONDITIONED. Although they aren't new, the buses deployed on the cross-border services are arguably the most well-maintained SBS buses around. Talking about image of Singapore buses, I'll chop off my head if anyone says we are nowhere near JB buses' 'standards'.

They are the best MK III deployed... SBS still gets the lion share during the recent long holidays, they deployed out 60 buses but at certain hrs, it is not enough due to heavy jams... Sometimes, there are no trails of CW1 and 950 because of the jam

took the 950.. the after at malaysia side "chop" passport liaoz still need to board the 950 to kotaraya??? where to board sia? normally i will juz cont to walk str8 to city sq

Kotaraya is the terminal of the former bus terminal before the bus terminal move to Larkin. It is along Jalan Trus and Jalan Gereja. From City Sq, walk across the overhead bridge at Jalan Wong Ah Fook, and go up the staircase beside Public Bank, go up the staircase, you will see Jalan Trus, turn right and walk for 200 m you will see Kotaraya terminal.

After you pass the malaysian immigration, you will see a underground tunnel entrance, look at the left side of the tunnel entrance, you will see a carpark for the Johor Customs officers, wait for the bus around there.

If you are using EzLink regardless you board 160, 170 or 950, and you continue your journey by walking, instead of continuing on bus, you will find your EzLink got deducted for the maximum fare.

Remember, if you get down at malaysian immgration for passprt clearance, your EzLink status is only "Ride Suspended", not deducting the correct fare. If you discontinue, your fare will be deducted at maximum value. Just like in Singapore, you get down the bus without tapping your EzLink card.

Another note, it is faster to walk to Kota Raya esp when Causeway has heavy jam.

Okay.. some updates here..

SMRT 950 is now coming in frequently, especially on weekends when loads can shoot. Best timing so far is a 5min wait. Weekday loads on this svc no longer consist of only school students but also workers as well. Loads generally subside at night.

Take note: The school students mentioned here are those who go home late due to extra lessons and do not use only the BAS SEKOLAH buses which they use in the morning to get to school, just for the information of those who are unwary of the current situation and utters rubbish here.
