about this issue, Turf City had previously applied to convert
its premises into an overland bus terminal sometime in mid-2004
(date not sure), but it had been turned down by LTA for reasons
that it will cause noise & air pollution to the nearby
residential areas and it is not complementary to the land usage
profile of the surrounding areas, and is hence not a good location
to set up such a terminal.
it added that they are still reviewing whether to build such an
overland bus terminal. but personally, i expect nothing to come out
of it since they have the MRT to Kranji and Woodlands, and they
have public bus services to Johor from there. they are most likely
to protect the MRT system and give it priority, given the
investment the Govt made on the infrastructure.
