About SMRT UDs buses

Just not long ago, i sat on a Nissan Diesel U31RCN bus (TIB 371 L) when i was on my way home from Bangkit Rd to Saujana Rd and i realised tat when i stand at the rear of the buses, my head almost reach the top of the bus (around 1.73M in height).. The suspension also not very good, from what i feel after driving thru the humps..

Do anyone of u guys here noe in which year will all the UDs be withdrawn and scrapped and i really miss the 3 Mercedes Bus so much.. (TIB 541 M, TIB 725 A, TIB 967 T).. They are really so much more better den the lousy UDs..

Dont really agree... sometimes.. i feel that Jap buses performs better than Europe buses

perform better doesn't mean tat it brings comfort to passengers.. newer buses obviously will bring more comfort to passengers and therefore they can have a safe, pleasant ans smooth ride.. Wink like all those UDs buses, althought they were Jap made, but u muz think of how old are these UDs buses, how well equipped are those buses, as to compare to MB O405 or newer buses? Wink

yah.. hope the lousy UDs buses will go away and more newer bendy buses come in so tat more bus services will get the chance of having bendy buses & not seeing more passengers squeezing on a typical bus(non-bendy) like very pathetic like tat. Wink If SMRT wants to buy more newer buses, i will recommend the long bendy buses. Wink

Some of the UDs in operation right now are newer than the oldest SMRT O405s.

Old UDs i hate it.. the suspension is alreadi enough for mi le, dun need to say other thing else.. The journey will be more smoother for UDs buses not to drive thru humps especially those with narrow humps.. Wink You must also consider which year were all these old UDs came in, and bear in mind that European buses came in much later den Jap buses in around 1994 where the Mercedes Benz O405 buses came in.. Wink

Nissan U31SCN is a non-aircon bus....they withdrawn oredi with the hinos....

left those RCN's OAC and CAC.The CAC are from CSS.

I feel the nissans always sound like they will break apart any time. Actually the nissans can go fast, at the cost of your butts.

think feeder services have many passengers on it on every trip.hence better deploy better bus models like mercedes 0405 or better still mercedes habit bendy bus Smile

Just for your added information, the TIBS Nissan buses are registered and put into services in 1993, around the same time as the SBS Transit Volvo MK3s. By calculation, the earliest (the now defunct 15 year limit) would mean the buses would be 2008, and now 2010.

The recently re-registered CSS Nissans are older than the ones of 1993 models, but there's no information indicating if the buses would have longer lifespan due to the re-registration.

In case you didn't know, SMRT service 920 had bendies deployed before, with buses like TIB 1180 P.

I would like to say that service 921 doesn't need bendy buses as the loads for most of the time doesn't even fill up 50% of the maximum seating capacity.
