It is not a Volvo... The desto plate is placed on the side, nearer to the entrance... It is an aircon bus with folding door

iveco SG

Front or side desto? The CAC Victories & the 16.240 had the front desto on the bottom left corner of the front windscreen.

CSS non air-con single door mini bus...
that was in the early 80's i think?

SBS : the front door is behind the driver/first window; and the rear door is at the rear of the bus (just in front of the rear bench seats)..these buses were later transferred to Sentosa internal shuttle buses (eg svc 1, 2 etc)..when some of these buses were transferred to Sentosa, the rear doorsteps were covered up to accomodate extra seats.. I loved the yellowish handstraps too...

SBS double decker with front openable windows. i remembered that the upper deck windows were rather high up from the seats. therefore as a tiny young boy then, i was unable to view the scnery.

Volvo Olympian SG

Css: maybe mercedes....
SBS1:albion?
SBS2:leyland olympian demo?

AIRCON 168 may be the first aircon service but there was also a normal sv. 168. AIRCON 168 only had 8 buses and its operating time was limited. Although AIRCON 168 was withdrawn in 1987, the normal 168 continued to run until 1989. The first FAC sv. was AIRCON 3 while the first aircon sv. from the start was AIRCON 118.

The desto @ the door side would be the re-bodied Leyland Victory with aircon.

They used the UDs. The SMRT-liveried UDs bring back memories of the SBS ones.

I do miss those mercedes benz OF1417. I find those buses kinda unique. Those buses made a unique 'roaring' sound when braking.. I also miss those NZ volvo B57s.. 170 used to have full fleet of that model. I prefer volvo B57s to MK2s.

Until now, i jus don't understand why OF1417 made a roaring sound when braking. Can anyone here kindly enlighten me? Thanx. Smile

The_Bus_Guide SG

Yeah, the Nissan U31SCN. Not only that, it also used the Van Hool B10M, Leyland Victory, Renault PR100.2 and Scania N113CRB.

iveco SG

Didn't SABS also have a taxi fleet as well.

BTW, I believe SBS had a Dennis Dragon or Dominator in the past. Read about it @ SgWiki.

Volvo Olympian SG
