how about admend 985 to serve suntec city?the changes is as follows .by the way this is a fantasy route.

towards suntec city
after boon keng rd,admend it and let it ply
-kallang bahru,lavender st,kallang rd,victoria st,bras basah rd,raffles blv,temasek ave,raffles ave,stamford rd,victoria st ,kallang rd,lavender st,kallang bahru and then back to boon keng rd .(the rest of 985 route remains unchange)

any comments?

How bout 133.. ?? ALMOST the same as 133 what... and.. i think SUntec City have enough bus service serving that area..

but heard from some of the sgforumers from singapore buses forum that 985 is less than half filled from choa chu kang to geylang lor1 terminal.i thought that maybe there would be more passengers if rerouted to loop at suntec city. Very Happy

I ever feedback SMRT (then Tibs) in March about extending 985 to EUN, but nothing's been done so far. Sad

What a lousy feedback. 985 service was to provide a direct travel from Kallang to CCK, running thru PIE. The purpose is to cut down the travelling time. By asking SMRT to extend it to Eun, is actually duplicating the MRT route from CCK to Eun, provided 985 extended its route to Eun.

U can also take MRT from CCK to EUN. Time needed will be approximately 45mins. However, if 985 extended to Eun, time needed to travel from CCK to Eun will be approximately 1 hour. Provided PIE did not jam up during peak hours.

Note: if you board 985 from the bus stop near Bukit Timah market to Kallang terminal, total time needed will be 25-30 mintues during off peak hrs.

i suggested 985 use Guillemard Rd. Lidat it won't duplicate the MRT line.

I certainly hope they won’t implement this suggestion…firstly due to duplication and it doesn’t make sense…and u only lengthen a long journey.

This is a lousy idea..Firstly, we have a lot of bus services serving suntec alreadi after the NEL merger..such as 97/111/106 serving the west. Add to that 77. and i think is overdose..

Secondly as said. 985 serves as a short cut. In fact..i rather take 985 from BB to Kallang as I dont have to change train at jurong and time taken is abt the same.. abt 45 min. If u loop at suntec then it will only lengthen the time.

Finally if i am not wrong..new bus routes implemented must not be circuitous without reason according to PTC.

77 & 106 duplicate each other heavily. I think the former should be amended. I won't be surprised if it is among the first to go when CCL opens for business.

Sv 77 is high in demand during peak hrs... Because it is the only rt @ Toh Tuck Rd, Sixth Ave to town (Orchard)

106 and 77 still need to be there, as there is still the need for them. Especially like Bro sbst275 has mentioned, it is the only bus from Toh Tuck Rd to town, apart from walking to Toh Tuck Ave ( for 106 ) and Jalan Jurong Kechil ( for 174 and 66 ).

985 if can, hope that it can be extended to Changi Airport, after Geylang Lor 1 ( it continues on the old SBST 149 route ~ TPY PIE Bendermeer Upp. Boon Keng Geylang Lor 1 Mountbatten Old Airport Tg Katong Marine Parade ECP Changi Airport ). Or maybe serve to Marine Parade also can, because currently no buses from the East Coast area linked to Bukit Timah, Bukit Batok and CCK.

Just to add something on, 985 can also be extended to Suntec City, it can call along Lavender St Crawford St Beach Rd Suntec City. Due to the shorten of SBST 82, there is no more services from Boon Keng / Bendermeer to Beach Rd. 985 to Suntec City thru Beach Rd will be convenient for the people in Boon Keng / Bendermeer to get to Beach Rd.

mrt still have to walk quite a distance to beach rd.also beach rd only have sbst100,107 and smrt961 and 980. Smile
