chop up 30?

hahaha besides 51, many long routes can ‘chop up’ too! this service longest in sbstransit. bus guide take up many pages oso. duplicate many other services oso like west coast to pasir panjang (like 51), telok blangah to shenton way (10) etc. can chop up into 2 or 3…..like boon lay to shenton way, shenton way to bedok.

wrt service 30... it provides the most direct link between east and west through sheares bridge... cut lots of travelling time.... i rather take it from my GF's place in old irport to change at HBF to go home in commonwealth than to take a more direct 196...

Don’t cut 30. It may be longest in terms of fare stage, but part of the route is express. Unlike 51. I can bet 30 takes a shorter time to complete one journey than 51.

yes.. i agree with that... the ECP link cuts travelling time by lots... it is only compensated by the roundabout trips in taman jurong.

30 has a headway of abt 100 min i think... versus 51's 120min.... and not to mention jams in the town which 30 bypasses

as moderators said, it's purely a forum for suggestions and air views/possibilities. you may not like it, but others may think it's feasible.....a bit like fantasy bus routes.

if you have better things to do, u wouldnt be here, would you? and if you seriously had productive things to see to, you wouldnt have time to make the effort of replying.

orrrr...your gf lives in old airport road and u live at commonwealth....old airport road to commonwealth already served by 196.....i think in that case should amend 30 so that it skip old airport road, or take an even shorter route Cool

Dun chop here chop there hor? Sv 30 is needed as a direct and fastest way from Pasir Panjang to the Eastern side of Singapore

I think shortening the route of svc 30 is a good idea. A friend's dad used to drive that route many years ago (yes it hasn't been amended for a long time!) and I remembered he said it could get very tedious, hot and monotonous esp driving the old alexander l-type atlantean double decks in the 1980s. Fortunately he has since retired.

No doubt it passes through major residential corridors on both ends of the island but I wonder if there are really that many passengers who actually take it from east to west and vice versa when there is now the mrt.

I think service 30 was last amended in 1993 to ply Old Airport Rd Confused

it does not serve the MRT corridor, but serves the southern rim of Singapore (ie Old Airport -> Mountbatten -> HarbourFront -> Pasir Panjang -> West Coast -> Taman Jurong).

It plied Old Airport Rd all the while. It was like the present Svc 10.

When 30 was amended to ECP & Sheares Bridge, 10 was diverted from Mountbatten Rd to Old Airport/Dunman Rds. 196 covered the Mountbatten Rd sector.

Like Beach Rd, Nicoll Hwy has seen the axing of many svcs. 7 & 30 were diverted, 60 was pulled.

I don't support the chopping of service 30. If really want to chop, the most I support chop from Bedok to Eunos only. Mr. Green

Also, hope LTA can build a flyover at AYE and Penjuru Rd junction so that the service can plies Teban Gdns Rd in both directions.

No point shortening 30 from BDK to EUN. There is already 154 plying between BNL - EUN.

Ya, but which guy in his sane mind would want to take 30 or 154 from BNL to EUN if he wants to get there in the shortest time possible? Very Happy
If you guys want to decide which part of 30 to cut or shorten I suggest you give some due consideration to the areas along the route that 30 serves. I suggest maybe cutting 30 to harbourfront? Would it be practical? Any comments?

Dun cut here cut there... If you cut to HBF, then at PSA Bldg to BNL or Bedok then there will be no direct and fast bus ride...

Point-to-point shouldn't be used in this case. Instead should take into account the routes they ply.
