chop up 51?

i see the thing about 51 is that it is really a service that’s really too long. spans 3 pages on the bus guides, passes through a lot of places which is currently served by other services and quite a bit of duplication somewhere. can the service be chopped up?

In the past it was 2 services. 51 (Eunos - Labrador) and 192 (Jurong - South Canal) integrated in the 80s.

Same for service 14. 14 (Bedok - Bt Merah) and 92 (Clementi - Paya Lebar Airport) integrated in 1993.

I think as the topic goes, such long rts dun think can be chopped off in the 1st place… Look at 154… Quite a lot live at Clementi and work at MacPherson/ Kallang Basin Ind Est there

Chopping up 51 will cause pax to KPKB, as in the case with 82, 111, 81, and so on.

I donT think it is possible to Chop Up 51 and split them into 2 different service... But.. Well.. i mean.. itz good that the split the service into 2 lar.. but then.. THINK.. would thEy ever Do tHAt ?? i mean.. After cutting short of 81,82,103,106.. people in the North East Region iS already nOt VEry HAPPY with SBST.. INcluding mI...(Erm.. one of the ppl living Somewhere Along North East Line).. and.. i think if you cut short the route, people in HOUGANG will start to KPKB.. oR maybE pEople living In Jurong.. things will start to get worst... and... i dont hope that this day to come.. i rather that they keep the way things are now... 51 goes to too many stops... also the service timing f-up... can take veri long for a bus to come n the bus most prob full... Confused

Sometimes I pity the BCs who serve on 14 & 51. The time taken to complete a trip in each direction is murder. What if nature calls?

SMRT 61 is also a long route. It has more twists and turns than SBST 14.

yes. i was doing perm list and i could add in a point about the freq of 51: there are 37 buses on 147 but only 32 buses on 51.

But.. IF im not wrong.. 51 got more DD bus than 147.. nowadays... MOst of the 147s are the Mk 4s... iS this the reason why 51 do get less bus than 147.. ??

051: 25 DD + 7 SD = 57 SD
147: 28 DD + 9 SD = 65 SD

147 has 3 more DD's, and its capacity is higher than 51's. probably 51 has less demand, but thus results in worse frequency.

Dun forget, 147 has ultra high demand after 103 is off serving CBD area. Otherwise, frequency is 8-12 mins

Yeah. First it was 81, then 103. 147 is the anchor of the NEL. Cannot amend it further.
