Hi people ,

1) While on the train (direction towards Harbourfront), between Clarke Quay and Chinatown station, just before reaching Chinatown station, if u sit on the side where u can see the platform doors clearly and directly, there's a big hole like a room with some lights on located some time jus before reaching Chinatown station. Anyone notice it?? If so, whats the purpose?

2) Are there any buses that is using auto detection of fare stages without manual updating of fare stages? (VLS???)

3) Is there any bus guide that can be used for PC?? Cos I saw one for Palm Top

4) Besides this bus forum, is there any other website that has updated bus pictures or news or related areas?? Some I saw le through signatures..

1. You are most likely talking abt the ventilation shaft. All underground stations have it and alot of them can be seen from the train just before or after the station.

2. According to an SBST staff who told me in March, 238 and 506 possess this. Not sure abt other services. However, minority of the public services use this function. Others is still manual pressing.

1. i suppose it's a buffer zone of the station's civil defence zones. it will be open if there are large enough crowds coming into the shelter that the main platforms can't cope with it. chinatown is a very "populated" place.

2. there are significantly more SMRTB buses using VLS than SBST. i noe of many but i didn't take down their regos. so the next time u board a SMRTB look out for the VLS green light (top-right corner of IDFC, will show right if not enabled).

3. use the SBS Transit Web Guide. there was a RoadPilot introduced years ago by Geo Millenium Systems (i think 1999, was sold at TransitLink offices for $19.90 or $29.90 or $39.90) that does jus tat. it can show route info, road names, landmarks & point A to point B. i have that CD-ROM with me still. however, it was discontinued as a product (due to low demand probably) and thus route info update downloads are no longer available there and sadly, there is no editor to change the route data. the current RoadPilot Pro you find on the website is a totally different product (now a road navigator for Pocket PCs), which sells for $149.99 at Challenger Funan.
