ala carte.. except that they employ waiters who pushes carts with the dim sums to you... like the good old dim sum days... you rarely or even don't see this kind of style in singapore anymore Mr. Green

Red STar is famous for their push cart style, cuz in Sg, we almost cannot find this anymore. Push cart seems to be Red STar’s unchangeable tradition.

Anybody been to Yumcha recently? they used to be pretty good then i think the standard dropped... this is the one at Trengannu Street (Chinatown)..

Also there is another one - lucky Yumcha at Toa Payoh near the Library - some say good, some say not good...

i thought the hawker stall at Lavender Food Court - behind eminent plaza, Jalan Besar is pretty good... but trouble was when i went back again, it tasted a bit heavy on the sodium... (salt or msg?) ...

if only these places were more consistent

but i do concede that Red Star has been quite steady in that respect.

Shocked Yumcha @ chinatown, not very nice. Dun find d one @ T.Payoh nice also.Maybe anybody out there got better recommendation??? Very Happy

If you happen to go JB ... try this coffee shop that selling Tim Sum next to Pelangi SC.
Good and Cheap!!!
Open at 4am till late noon
Their 'yu-mia'(make from fish cake and usually sold out after 10am) and sea-weed roll are my favourite

The yumcha at toa payoh average only loh... But the restaurant previously occupying the floor did have very nice dim sum. Too bad the owner retire...

red star standard indeed drop liao. i dont go there anymore.
i think ppl still flock there because of its tradition rather than the food. ah po no longer sell her favourite century egg porridge. the siew mai also average.

there is one HK teahouse style at serangoon road(near Chomp Chomp) quite good. it sell both HK roast meat,tim sum + zhi cha.
TV series (Holland Village use to film there).
Food : 4/5.
Price: 4/5 -- resturant like. 2paX :$20
MINUS : NO AIRCON, PARKING DIFFICULT.

yes, agreed. red star's standard, esp on dim sum staples like siew mai, har kau, has dropped.. quite bad, the last time i went... saving grace is their chicken feet which is still v good..

but die die must try is their award winning soy sauce chicken (yau kai)...

as for the upper end dim sum places, notable ones are hua ting, jade palace, peach garden...

Bukit Timah Market. Dim sum stall over there not to bad n its not very pricey.

I know where got sell nice Dim Sum, and its cheap too. Its actually a coffeeshop but the whole coffeeshop is under the same owner. Sells Dim Sum, Hong Kong porridge, carrot cakes, noodlesand lots more.

Its near Aljunied MRT station, cant remember the coffeeshop name but its very near. You reach aljunied u can ask around. Or maybe some forumites may know

Is it the one along Geylang Road, at the roadside? It is along Geylang Road nearer to the Geylang Serai end..
