Just wondering..

is there any relevance of declaring the aircon status of a bus service?

Does it really matter if a Non aircon bus serve a Full AC service?

With most buses in Sg already aircon... I don't really see the need to declare the aircon status of a service. Would the bus company be in violation of a PTC/ LTA guideline if a non aircon bus run on a Full aircon-declared service? Question

The relevance of declaring a/c status is so that the companies can take more $ from pax, as non a/c fares are about 10c lower then a/c fares.

The last point is correct. Bus companies would violate PTC regulations if they put a non-a/c bus on a declared full a/c service, even for just one trip. But they close one eye anyway, so there you go.

For info, there are still non aircon and partial aircon SBST services here. So there's still the need of declaring the aircon status of a SBST service. For SMRT Bus, I don't see the need as all its buses are aircon.

Yes, the bus company would violate the regulation in this case. Two days ago (14 June), 3603 which is a non aircon Scania was deployed on Townlink 291, which is declared as a full aircon service.

I've seen NAC buses on Sv. 222 and Sv. 291 countless times.

If there is indeed such a "regulation/guideline", isn't it obsolete?

So what if a non aircon bus plys an aircon service. As long as non aircon fares are charged for a non aircon trip, I don't really see the need for such a regulation.

Regulations usually restrict flexible use of resources. I rather see a non aircon bus rather than no bus. Thus, in this aspect, it would be foolish for a bus company to adhere to this regulation, making this regulation obsolete.

That's why sometime SBST deployed non aircon buses on full aircon services, and this made the regulation obsolete with the authorities closing one eye.

Agree. The ruling body knows the regulations are quite obstructive, that's why they don't give a hoot.

Hold it, Sv. 11 does use a/c buses, and quite regularly. In fact it just pulls out any spare bus from HGDEP.

Service 11 seems to have AC buses more regularly if there is an event in the Stadium area…otherwise in other time periods of the day when very few ppl visit the stadium then it will seem as though it is a full NAC service
