Ah yes... That's true. My mum told me that when they moved in Serangoon with me (when I was just barely a 5 month old baby), there weren't any interchange. Upp S'goon Rd was also addressed as the main road for the Serangoon Residents, to get into the city, or going down to Hougang Area.

There was a bus terminus at Serangoon Garden. Services from that terminal were re-located when Serangoon Interchange was completed. Not sure which year this took place but the services ending at S'goon Gdn Terminal in 1985 were as follows:
72, 100, 101, 104, 106, 107, 217, 315
while these services pass by the terminal:
73, 136

i do believe there was a 102 even (very very early 70s). cant remeber its route now. htink it was some semi express bus svc)

i do not think 106 or 107 went to serangoon gardens ter...(too new introductions)

105 not go there too...

or did they.

and when it relocate to serangoon int, they introduced 105 and 318. 312 was shifted into the int, before that it was terminated along ave 3.

from wat i can remember when i first went serangoon in 1985 (cant remember whether is it 1985), there wasnt any 102 or 105. however there were 106 and 107.

1972 Bus Guide
102 Serangoon Gardens - Prince Edward

Via Lor Chuan, Braddell Road and then like former service 97.

102A

Alternative service via Yio Chu Kang Road.

1977 Bus Guide
102A ceased to exist.

New service 105 is exactly the same as 1972's service 102A.

106 Serangoon Gardens - Commonwealth Avenue

1982 Bus Guide
107 Serangoon Gardens - Shenton Way

Did not go via Geylang Bahru. Straight to Lavender St.

OMO 70c service.

There was a 102 in the 1982 guide which plied between Jln Kayu and New Bridge Rd. Route was exactly the same as 103 before it was shortened. It was gone in 1984.

Serangoon Central is the physical heart, Serangoon Gardensis the spiritual heart of Serangoon, as it is extremely vibrant.

Serangoon Central is actually the southern tip of Serangoon.

That's why I used the word physical, as it is TECHNICALLY the central of Serangoon, thus the name.

Well, ur saying is somehow right. I suppose that's what the developers wanted to do when they developed Serangoon.
