Are the Lances so hard to maintain that they are going off? It is said that a Merc costs less to replace than a CRB. Will this mean more Mercs for Tibs? Another thread says that MAN vehicles and parts are cheaper than those of Merc. Why don’t SBS and Tibs use MAN products then?

SBS ans TIBS should really consider getting MAN buses. I mean, MAN has a manufacturing centre in Malaysia, right at our doorsteps. Parts, assembly, shipment and maintenance shouldn't be a problem and realatively cheap too.
The 18.280 HOCLR is a good citybus (essentially the same as the Causeway Link buses but with a higher power rating). It's turbocharged engine is Euro 3 compliant, has a capacity of only 6871cc with a maximum power output of 280hp (206 kW) @2400 rpm and is able to pump out 1100 Nm of torque @1400-1700 rpm! It comes with a Voith 854.2 gearbox with integrated retarder. SBS & TIBS, what are you waiting for? Get the MAN 18.280 HOCLR!

I suppose that the Ivecos are also economical, or else DRB-Hicom wouldn't assemble them. We could use some of them after the Mk 2s retire, but have them fitted with WA bodywork. The Intrakota Ivecos look really odd.
