That's such a sad thing...SBS created such a good service...just to see it be given away a few months later

service_238 SG

Just to let you know SBS 9631 X was on 31 on sat 10th Apr Razz

Most or all 81 VO3x are not from central.

service_238 SG

The Toa Payoh planners think that 17 services is ENOUGH for TPY... its actually way enough if u ask me... unlike places like Bishan Serangoon or even Ang Mo Kio.. Toa payoh is vv fortunate already. Very Happy

leejz: try service 81's departure from TAM at 0705. check the loading in PSR to see whether it really needs DDs anot.. Laughing

freakybuses SG

I agree... TPY has way enough svcs to serve residents.
Pasir Ris: 88 or MRT
Tampines: 8 28 31 or MRT
Bedok: 26 28 or MRT
Orchard: 143 or MRT
Ang Mo Kio: 73 88 159 or MRT
Bishan: 88 or MRT
Yishun: Go Jln TPY take 857 or by MRT
Woodlands: 966 from Jln TPY or MRT
Choa Chu Kang: 985 from Jln TPY or MRT
Bukit Batok: 985 from Jln TPY or 157
Jurong East: 143 157 or MRT
Boon Lay: 157 or MRT
Clementi: MRT
Buona Vista/C'wealth Area: 145 or MRT
East Coast: 966 from Jln TPY or 155
Hougang: 88 159
Sengkang: 88 159

Despite AMK having many links, there are still flaws.
-No bus svc to North-west and far west. Eg. Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Boon Lay and many parts of Bukit Batok.
-Pasir Ris... only by 88 and has to travel through Hougang and Sengkang to get there.

I will still pity Serangoon more... any connections to city from int? only 100 105.

Bishan residents can get to either TPY or AMK within 10 mins. So not as much probs as Serangoon.

VO as a cameo basis during morning peak (eg Sv 1 Cool is enough...maybe can borrow from Sv 8...its ultra-high frequency during morning peak is good enough to sustain loads even with MK4s & O405s only...can see 3 Sv 8 buses on Tampines Ave 7 alone during morning peak Wink

Rest of the times Sv 81 is barely full, at most school release hours but you can cram everyone in an MK4.

Serangoon residents can go up to Hougang or take a short hop to Toa Payoh via Sv 105 or Sv 153 for a wider range of services. And theres always the NEL Wink Plus Serangoon Int is at the southern tip of the town, most of the residents live at the north.

9631X cameos around quite a lot, took it on Sv 2.

Scania SG

I have the ticket of 9631X on 56.
and 56 and 88 aint pamered, the D10A VO3x's on 88 from the range 9423E to 9642P isn't well maintained enough, especially their inteiror, while the only TD102KF VO3x (9276M, infact it is the only remainign 1st batch VO3x in amdep/bram) has some ZF gearbox problems. 56 aint pampered, you see it has 3 merz with merz gearbox and 2 merz with Voith gearbox and the others are 1 semi-pernament LO3x and 4 unpowerful B10TLs(which is slower than the LO3x anbd of course slower than 9631X). BTW, 9631X was the last VO3x without any ad to get repainted, I know it because I used to see it everyday at school

leeJZ SG

Doesnt SBS' favorite services get VSOs?

Scania SG

Quite yes. but I hate those 9.6 liter engined buses, Volvo buses are simply 9.6 liters and below (besides the B12BLE for now)

cck_190 SG

I'm sure if 190 is still under SBS, it would get a full fleet of VSOs and Dennis Tridents Mr. Green

SBS9818A SG

9631X was actually repainted in late 2002, even Sv. 88 96xx buses were repainted earlier!

BlessingSatan SG

Nowdays buses i've notices had small displacement but with more or equal horsepower and torque compared with the previous big displacement buses.

Compared B10M with B7RLE.

freakybuses SG

190 was as pampered as 25 when it was still under SBS.

SBS9818A SG

That's true, Sv. 25 got all the new VOs.

Scania SG

Thats because 25 got the new buses when SBS was 25 just like 28 getting new buses.....when they are 30 years old(late by 2 years, but they were kept in a serect place somewhere(can't tell) for 1 year.

freakybuses SG

And it's time for 31 to be pampered this year Mr. Green

gynobcard SG

IMHO, one of the best cashcows is svc 80. just look at the passenger load during peak hours. full VOs 3-4 mins apart.

SBS9818A SG

Sv. 72 has frequency of 1 min! Beat that!
