svc 163 and 371. exactly the same route from SK int to SK West Ave/Jln Kayu. only diff is 163 charges 83 cents for that stretch while 371 is a flat 63 cents. if only SKLRT’s west loop is in operation…

851, 852, 853, 854, 855 & 857 all starting from Yishun and down Yishun Ave 2 and Lentor Ave... then 855 turn right and 854, 857 go left into YCK Rd. 851, 852 & 853 go straight along AMK Ave 6 until 853 go AMK Ave 3. 851 & 852 then go along Marymount Rd and then 852 turn to Upp Thomson and meet 157 and go the same route until Upp Bt Timah Rd.

Route duplication is not so rampant now as compared to 20 years ago. Back then, there are lotsa lotsa services which duplicate each other 80% of the way.

Same goes for Bt Timah - Jln Jurong Kechil - Bt Batok. The only other option is the one covered by sv. 852, ie the junction at Bt Timah Fire Station, which is longer.

How’s about 77/106 from Holland V to Suntec? 7/77/106 from Holland V to Bras Basah Road? The duplicated route constitutes 60% of 77 and 106.

Not really, there are four ways, first is via Lentor Ave, second via Sembawang Rd, third via Gambas Ave, last via Canberra Link but most services head south so they have to use Lentor Ave.

Well, Svc 169 goes past Khatib and Nee Soon Camps along Sembawang Road from Yishun MRT towards Ang Mo Kio.

As for Svc 77, it is duplicated by 174 from Bt Batok Ctr to the junction of East Ave 3 and 6; and the Jln Jurong Kecil/Toh Tuck Road intersection to the corner of Dunearn Rd and Sixth Ave. The former covers Toh Tuck Rd, but the latter runs parallel with 61, 66, 157 along Bt Batok East Ave 3 and 6. Svc 985, meanwhile, provides for residents of Bt Batok East Ave 2. Svc 77 is then practically duplicated by Svc 106 until Suntec City.

I submitted a three-pronged plan to TIBS for Svcs 75, 77 and 970 but they haven't replied. This plan helps reduce duplication along the Holland and Orchard corridors. Refer to my posting on 'Fantasy Bus Routes' concerning this suggestion.

25 and 55 from AMK Ave 3 to Eunos MRT
25 and 854 from Hougang Ave 3 to Bedok Interchange
66 and 67 from Dunearn Rd to Serangoon Rd
53 and 81 from Tampines Rd to Loyang Ave

But then we shouldn't complain too much about route duplication lest we get the changes seen in the NEL rationalisation ("Too much route duplication")

132 and 166... hiyah nvm one.
25 competing with 854... but then also duplicate a lot. Why not merge with 17 to become AMK - PSR?
66 and 67... sounds a little logical but then they link residents from different places.
53 and 81.... if 81 extended to BSH, 53 may cut short to S'goon.
