Hi,m new at this forum.m juz wondering whether there's any website that have pixs of Singapore buses of the 70s and 80s.

Thank you.

I'm not sure where is it. However, you can borrow a Singapore Bus Handbook from the National Libraries. Go to your nearest library to search for that book and reserve a copy of it. Smile

but not all are coloured for the old bus pics...

it's definitely Commonwealth Ave. The blocks behind are Ghim Moh flats.

I believe Commonwealth Ave Terminal was located at the current Heavy Vehicles carpark at junction of North Buona Vista and Commonwealth Ave (next to Holland Drive market/food market).

The terminal was later moved to the plot of land next to BVCC, and buses depart from North Buona Vista Road, and was thus renamed as BV Terminal.

Wasn't it a roadside terminal before?

iamgoondu SG

I can't remember that. However I'm very sure that the terminal was once next to Holland Drive food centre/market (the now heavy vehicle car park).

I'm not sure, but I thought the extended bus bay at the stop was for the buses to park?

iamgoondu SG

extended bus bay at the stop? are you referring to the buses queuing up in the picture? Prior route rationalisation due to the opening of MRT line, many bus services stop at that bus stop. And it's not surprising that many buses waited at that bus stop. And for a quite a while, certain bus services skipped that bus stop os Blk 43 and stopped only os Blk 7, and certain bus services skipped the bus stop os Blk 7 and stopped only os Blk 43. Many services have been withdrawn.

Anyone has records on the services that once terminate at Commowealth or Buona Vista?

SBS9818A SG

If I'm not wrong someone actually told me the extended bus bay was the terminal.

The_Bus_Guide SG

Lotsa services used to end at C'wealth Ave / Buona Vista.
2, 12, 21, 57, 90, 103, 106, 111, 112, 122, 144, 147, 148, 189, 212, 216

Interestingly, none of them end at Buona Vista today! And a couple more services call at the bus stop in the picture. They are:
13, 20, 78, 186, 196, 198, 200, 209

SBS9818A SG

Hmm, wonder what happened to those services.

freakybuses SG

106 still serve Buona Vista and C'wealth Dr

The_Bus_Guide SG

Yes, what had happened to them, indeed?

106 - Extended to Bt Batok.
111 - Extended to Ghim Moh Ter as replacement for sv. 13

Oh ya, someone also mentioned that 196 used to end at Buona Vista for a very brief period. I've also forgot to mention sv. 202, which plied from Buona Vista to Jln Anak Bt. Its route is now covered by sv. 74.

freakybuses SG

and then any merger of services occuring among these svcs?

SBS9818A SG

How long did Sv. 147 terminate at Potong Pasir and where exactly was the terminal?

freakybuses SG

Either Potong Pasir Ave 1/2... remembered 142 mentioning the ter in the route in 1997 bus guide (or was it 1996?)

SBS9818A SG

OK, I remember Sv. 147 using 9109B with desto UPP SERANGOON

tranquilice SG

1988 street directory indicates it was along Potong Pasir Ave 1, outside block 135.
