Also all Crawford St bus services were extended to Geylang Lor 1. I don't see a good reason why this can't be applied to the Marine Parade bus services to end at Upper East Coast.

Don't forget Sv. 961, Sv. 980 and Sv. 853 use different routes into Lor 1 Geylang. The same cannot be applied for Upper East Coast Ter as there's only ONE access route to the place.

Yup, or more precisely only 2 major and obvious routes there - 13 (via Siglap) or 853 (via Bedok South). Any other routes are not as direct as these 2.

Service 196 terminated at Buona Vista from end June 1992 to end Nov 1992. It has a relationship with service 148 (Clementi - Lor 1 Geylang). Service 148 was re-introduced on the same day when service 196 was cut short to Buona Vista, and was withdrawn on the same day service 196 was extended back to Clementi.

Svcs 961 & 980 used to ply Kallang Rd in the direction of Geylang Lor 1 until the former took over the Kallang Bahru/Lavender St sector from Svc 5. Half the MRP svcs (16, 76, 135) could use Bedok South while the rest (55,155) could use East Coast Rd. Remember, the members of 7 SIB and 3 Guards would love this extra bit of convenience.

Service 148 was re-introduced in June 1992 (on the same day when service 196 was shortened to Buona Vista) to operate between Clementi and Lor 1 Geylang when service 147 (Jurong East - Potong Pasir) skipped Lavender St and Victoria St/North Bridge Rd to ply Serangoon Rd/Jln Besar. Service 148 duplicated service 147 between Clementi town and Hill St/North Bridge Rd. Service 148 was withdrawn in Nov 1992 due to low demand and it happened to be the same day service 196 was extended back to Clementi.

The "relationship" of services 148 and 196 is on the dates of service changes and not the routes.

But it may be possible for 135 & 197 to trade places, with the latter going to Bedok Camp. The UEC terminus is right next to the access road to the complex.

SBST 10, 13, 14, 16, 55, 76, 135, 155 and weekends with TIBS853 = 9 services, serving the Upper East Coast Road section between Bedok Camp and Bedok South Ave 1. Isn't that an extremely too many services duplicating each other? Furthermore, is there really a demand to really command as many as 9 services? Although it would bring more alternatives for the NSmen at Bedok Camp as well as the residents, most of them would prefer taking Service 14 to Tanah Merah MRT. Lastly, Upper East Coast Terminal do not have the space to accommodate as many as 9 services at any one time.
