thinkloud2004 SG Dear food lovers......i think lets discuss something concerning food but then not exactly food......... There are hot discussions on the forum pages on that 10% service charge in restaurants --- OR abolish it and give tips instead. What say you ?
FireIce SG those tt charge 10% svc charge liao i dun tip those no svc charge one i tip accordingly......
skeujin SG if the service is good ill tip. the service charge doesnt go into the pocket of the staff.
bigshow SG Normally.. if there is smal change, 50-60 cents, i will jus give. In terms of restaurants, i will tip if i find the service good. (2bucks) If the i find the service lousy, i wont. n i wont return also.. Just my 2 cents Worth

(all those crap) operatork so u can expect your order to be delivered to u in around 30 mins mek.n erm i'll be tipping. operator:huh? me:i'll give tips operatorh ok... me:...... operator:.... me:bye.
BufPuf SG wah all like so generous.. normally if take the bill back i just leave the coins there... 10% already for service charge.. whether or not go to the waiter/ress also not my business somemore i not those super demanding...order eat den go liao
Kenashi SG i think it will motivate service industry workers to provide better services since some restaurants don't give the service charge to their employees. however, singaporean mindset are difficult to change, thus they may not tip in the beginning.
BufPuf SG but isn't their job to provide good service? I mean, you can have a choice whether to be a waiter/waiteress but since u already engage in this job u should fulfil the basic rquirements and in fact, excel on your part for example if you should finish certain amt of work each day do you boss give u 10% to motivate u to finish..
Kenashi SG that's partially correct. they are to provide service, it just whether it is gd or bad, as long as they get it done, it is ok to them. they only care about the end n not the process. did yr letter of employment stated that u must perform gd work in yr job??

dragg SG it is damn easy to say. how do you gauge good and bad service? it is very subjective. i am sure people in this line hardly do it because they choose to.
alexkusu SG A customer gave a $100 tip once..for a $75 meal. Guess he was impressed by the customer service
