possible to have sbstransit bus service in sembawang?

i have recently email to sbstransit to ask them whether they are planning to have bus service in sembawang.their reply is that sembawang is controlled under tibs,so i must consulted tibs.but then,when tibs reply came ,they said they at the moment did not have plans to have a new service in sembawang .but i think if sbstransit have plans for sembawang,they should go ahead since tibs do not have plans for new bus services.by the way,i have feeback to sbstransit that tibs does not have plans for new bus service at the moment.still waiting for sbstransit reply.do u think there is a high chance sbstransit will have new bus service in sembawang ?

Well they can amended one of their service there,But for the time being i think they don't. Cool

Its possible for SBSTransit to get into Sembawang, but the fact of the lousy PTC control policy means it would not be an easy task.

Perhaps when Sembawang has a new interchange? Well, at least SBST made a rather successful foray into Yishun with svc 39 to break TIBS's monopoly of svc 969, and its 7 months since last August and as far as i had seen, its doing pretty well.

Agree with TIB1186Z and SBS9818A.

Each bus company can only go into one town of the rival company as for now, Yishun for sv 39, Woodlands for sv 161 and 168, Tampines for sv 969.

As for Sembawang, it is hard as it's sandwiched between Woodlands and Yishun. Which means, at least one more TIBS town have to be "touched", which is against the PTC rule.

How about using Woodlands Ave 12 and Sembawang Rd to get into Sembawang? I guess its impossible as TIBS would say its their territory.

In my opinion, SBST for now will not plan any new service into Sembawang, which is considered less developed than Woodlands and Yishun.

I have asked Tibs many times if Sembawang could have a bus interchange? And they repiled less people stay there so no interchange and building of interchange is up to LTA.

Sembawang Interchange is scheduled to be completed end 2004.

But with the "current economy situations" and stuffs, I expect it to be delayed.

Which is highly unlikely as these 2 towns are the 'flagship' towns of TIBS. By making them go express through these 2 towns, it will be akin to sacrificing a sacred cow due to the potential load. Whats more, these 2 towns also have an eagle-eyed rival that is poised to take away pax from TIBS, as it had already done so with its 3 services.

In other words, it is not economically feasible to plan a new route express into Sembawang. I compare it to Simei estate in the east. The only way to get around it until Simpang is developed is to have services running through the town between Yishun and Woodlands.

Othewise, i can guarentee that the service would lose $$ right from the beginning due to the above reasons.

Sembawang is really an oddity, as there is no reasonable route to get to the nearest highway.

Maybe once Ulu Sembawang Flyover (Woodlands Ave 12) is fully completed, buses from Sembawang might use it to get to SLE.

Simpang is located between Yishun and Sembawang, It is the huge tract of swampland and mangrove area that is often featured on some maps. Currently only svc 169 passes along the fringe of it, which is Yishun Ave 2.

According to TIBS website, Simpang is controlled by TIBS ( Damn! )

Simpang is located to the east of Yishun Ave 6. It is currently swampland, forested area and part of it is SAF training ground.

Tibs will be in control.
