What the legal speed limit for buses that use the expressways?

All TIBS and SBST are limited to 60km/h no matter where they are due to the speed limiter installed.

i can’t bear to see slow Svc 985 buses trying to exit on the right lane from PIE to Jln Anak Bt.. holds up traffic and is a hazard also cos all the cars brake on the fastest lane together behind a 985 bus.. they shld review 985 schedule..

Because they are pieces of shit. AFAIK, SBS 2989K is limited to 65km/h.

I think all buses at all times should not be travelling above the speed limit of 60km/h

The legal speed limit is 60km/h, but can reach to maximum stated vehicle speed if the speed limiters are tampered with.

I have been on a service 858 MB 0405 which travelled on TPE towards airport at far beyond 60km/h. It overtook a service 161 Mk3, a service 168 VSO, a service 965 volgren, a service 969 bendy, 2 service 53 MB 0405s and another service 858 MB 0405 in front. Rolling Eyes The reason for speeding is due to delay in a traffic jam along SLE after Lentor. If I remembered correctly, it was an indian driver.

TIBS was slow in implementing the speed limiters, and in some buses (few, and i supposed they are deployed on "express" svcs like 858 ) it has yet to be fitted though they are supposed to.. TIBS seems to be resistive of such a move cos then-SBS had their buses fitted with 60km/h speed limiters (from Siemens Mannesmann i think) but TIBS took a year and a half to start fitting them.. so for quite a while, it's fun to see every TIBS bus overtaking every SBS bus on the TPE on my way home.. that was about 2001.. and on the last few buses of 858 Woodlands-bound, the drivers can speed at 120km/h and don't need to wait for more then 4minutes stopover at CGA PTB 2, like they are rushing for time.. but those times of 120km/h are over..=(

No intention of any racist remarks here, but I noticed drivers who sped, be it an expressway or a normal road, especially TIBS drivers, are Indians. The fastest SBS buses driven by Indians are on Service 24, when it still uses NAC O405s.

Bus driver tried it out on Sunday along Lor Chuan. Was enjoying the ride. I was looking at the speedo and once it hit 65km/h, the buzzer sounded.

Ya that's true,When i went for the passengers safety training orientation the instructor even told that some of the buses are limited until 70km/h.The buses he mention are all mostly MB0405.Don't exactly know what is the purpose of that.

hehe.....yah....TIBS svc858 MB0405s are very speedy, they will hit 4th gear the moment they are out of the basements.

It is common for the speedometers to malfunction. I got a pix of a Dart meter displaying 30kmh at rest.

Not true that only TIBS have faulty/nonexistant speed limiters. I once took SBS2836T that reached 90kmh at times, took me only 20mins from Compass to Causeway Point. In fact, many of the 283X series are not fitted with correct speed limiters. Another example is SBS2831 on my dear svc39. That chinese driver gets a kick from going out of interchange slightly late and then overtaking TIBS buses along TPE. Highly recommeded!

I suspect they were not even fitted with speed limiters. 2836T cannot go at 90km/h, even if the speed limiter was wrongly calibrated the technicians would have noticed already.

Don’t forget the JB MK3 which is capable of reaching of more than 90km/h,Once my Indian friend blast it until 95km/h @JB.
