I remember that I read somewhere which says that all SBS buses bought after 1993 conforms to the Euro-1 engine emission standards.

TIBS' Volgren-bodied Dennis Lances are perm on Service 851 (Yishun-Bt Merah). SBST's sole Volvo B10BLE (SBS1688K) is perm on Service 84.

So that means mk3 & leyland olympian 3 x is not euro1 engine as it is purchased in 92 & 93 respectively,correct?Alamak,BLE for 84 ha!
If i'm not wrong,this is only a peak hours svs right?Anyway,Thanx brother superbus for the info.

yes svc 84 is a peak hour svc...looks like SBS does not like its B10BLE bus...lolz...

hint buses are deployed according to depots not interchanges. so if u dun find the dnnis lance volgren on 851 try lookiing for it in other AMKDEP buses like 169 or 61 or 853...etc

and as for SBS1688K it is under HGDEP. it sometimes comes out to do other services. for example it recently did 74. SBS also likes to play pattern. i think i better expect to see SBS1688K on 64 too =)

There's lots of factors to this.

TIBS buses are no faster than SBST buses. All S'pore buses are restricted to 60 km/h. The speed of a bus is determined by the driver. Some drivers are Michael Schumacher wannabes while others are trying hard to keep pace with a bicycle. If it's about acceleration and engine power, then we'll have plenty to talk about.

One time i board svs 969 from tampines to woodlands and the driver start to speed when entering the expressway.To my suprised he even overtake two vans from the left lane(vans on centre lane)and i don't think he is driving 60km/h frankly.From the front dashboard,i did see a motorbike helmet and no suprised that he speed.Anyway,this driver is safety consious too as he drive fast only when in front is clear and he did not abruptly changing lanes nor tailgaiting.

I too feel that TIBS buses are travelling at much faster speed than SBST. I have no complaint anyway. Rather I prefer buses to travel at a faster speed, rather than trying to stick to his schedule and make intentionally stops even if ttraffic lights still at green.

The faster travelling speed at times get rid of my frustration while having waited for more than 15 minutes for a bus.

That's why I prefer to take TIBS 106 or TIBS 77 rather than SBST 7 to travel from Orchard Boulevard to Holland V. Of course the long-bendy MERCEDES running on TIBS 106 was another plus. It is alot more comfortable than double decker. And it seems TIBS buses have bigger leg room, it is especially comfort for someone like me.

True,The slackness of sbst is that their bodyworks is quite 'old fashion' compared to tibs buses ie;habit,volgren,hispano.One example is that sbst like to install mostly old type round headlights in its buses.The only sbst buses i prefered is all mk4's(only the artic & longbus rear is ugly)mb 0405g volgren,super olympian,trident & volvo olympian 96xx series.I would prefer scania too if not for the headlight & the front doors,otherwise it is quite an excellent buses.For tibs,all except nissan diesel & daf bodyworks(alexander).

Any ideas why svs 64 is quite 'special'?It is because through survey,i notice that this svs do have trident,super olympian,olympian 96xx,dm3500 in its fleets previous and currently.
From your opinions,is it possible that svs 60 can have sbs997 in its fleet during peak hours due to the paxs?I did requested to sbs about this and their reply is they will consider this matter first.
