Svc 852 & Depot parking

W.e.f Sunday, 28th Dec '03, the fleet of Svc 852 will no longer park at Yishun Int overnight but will report to AMDEP. On the night of 27th Dec '03, buses will return to AMDEP and drivers are to report to AMDEP for their duties subsequently.

Meanwhile, the schedule for Svc 852 will be revised from Sunday, 28th Dec '03 for all days.

And it is stated in SMRT's annual report 2003 that the lease of Kranji Depot has only 0.3 years left.. any ideas if it will be renewed? AMDEP has bout 7 yrs while WLDEP is 23 yrs..

Wow.. i didnt know that AMDEP is too full to hold Svc 852 buses. I think TIBS is revising the full schedule of Svc 852 - its frequency, bus deployment and rest times. The route will not be amended as if it is, there would be posters on its amendment by now.

As for KJDEP, TIBS will renew it. Otherwise one-quarter of its bus fleet will be parking at interchanges overnight. I think they would be some bus transfer from AMDEP to WLDEP to allow Svc 852 to park at AMDEP.

If that is the case, Tibs will renew the lease, unless they have a new depot somewhere. Besides, CCK, BBT and BPJ interchanges are not big enough to hold the entire fleet from KJDEP.

HMm, interesting. Sv. 852 is the only service where buses park inside interchange overnight, right?

not sure bout that.. but from what i see, they like to park their more lousy buses like Dennis Lances and also some Mercedes O405 (OAC & CAC) so it is likely those services with a lot of Lances have to “stay back” at Yishun Int after the day’s revenue service.. so likely candidates are Svc 171, 852, 853, 854, 855 with the exception of Bendys from Svc 854, which can easily fill the interchange up with about 60 buses?

I wonder why TIBS does this? SBST doesnt have any buses parking at interchange overnight AFAIK.

probably they do not have enough space at its depots.. it has more than 800 buses, but i don't really know about its exact capacity at its depot.. any numbers anyone?

anyway i was thinking if this move has to do with TIBS scrapping some buses (Nissan U31SCN AC buses on Svc 178?) so there is additional space to move some buses back to depots..

The Nissan Diesels are only 10 years old (same age as the Vovlo MK3s). They have 7 more years to go, unless Tibs really decided to scrap them which I think is not the case.

then wat could explain the additional space at AMDEP, if it is true that AMDEP is already packed? any ideas anyone?

Some shiftings have been done since the introduction of service 966. Hence, I believe there are available spaces just for service 852, which is now taken over by AMDEP.

Perhaps it was a temporary arrangement, as Sv. 852 used to be KJDEP-controlled also. KJDEP buses would go back to KJ after a day's work, while some or all AMKDEP buses would park in Yishun Int. That explains why all the UK Lances are seen leaving Yishun around 6+ am while all the DAFs are going up to Yishun.
