do u all think there will be new bus service in bishan to other places? bishan is already a town for quite a
number of years but i personally think the bus service is not adequate especially in bishan bus interchange. there is only 53,54,55,56 and 410.

I personally find Bishan does not need new services, unless the services are introduced by TIBS. Services 54 56 & 162 provides town coverage while Service 13 & 55 provides eastern coverage. For the west, there is Service 156 and for the north and north-east, there is Service 88.

The pair of bus stops outside Bishan MRT acts like a mini central stop. Moreover most people in Bishan are young adults to middle-aged people who often rely on the train to get to town where most of them are working.

The fewer number of bus services might be due to a few factors
1. Bishan town is not as big as AMK or TP.
2. Bishan town is a newer estate than AMK & TP
3. Many places within Bishan North & Bishan East are within walking distances.

Besides if they want to get to places that are served by buses only, they can take 56 or 88 to AMK or TP before transferring to another bus.

Bishan’s link to the west is very weak… There’s only 156 which only links to as far as Clementi… Regarding the east, it is only average… Pasir Ris got 88 (which is still a 1 hour journey anyway) and Marine Parade area got 55 but it’s quite a chore getting to Tampines. Links to the north and north-west are also quite poor too.

Same as Sembawang. Sembawang has buses to Yishun / Woodlands for residents to transfer to town. So I guess Bishan is kind of similar, sandwiched between Ang Mo Kio and Toa Payoh. That's why there are buses to Ang Mo Kio MRT station and Toa Payoh Interchange. Transfer!

Now there are:

Service 167 (Sembawang - Bt Merah)
Service 856 (Yishun - Woodlands via Sembawang)
Service 859 (Yishun - Sembawang)
Service 962 (Woodlands - Sembawang)
Service 980 (Admiralty Rd West - Lor 1 Geylang via Sembawang)
Service 981 (Sembawang - Senoko, peak hour service)

This is already 6, that means there will be 4 more to be introduced, IF only what they said is TRUE.

but i think if it comes true,the four new thrunk service will be short routes like sembawang to yishun or to woodlands like what a lot of u think as sembawang is sandwicked between yishun and woodlands.

No. Journey to Yishun and Woodlands are already covered by services 859 and 962 respectively.

I do think they meant 10 services and the remaining 4 could be feeder services to Admiralty Street (cover sv 962), Admiralty Rd West (cover sv 980) and Sembawang Rd End / Park (cover sv 167).

These made up 3 and so probably a trunk service to the East, West or North-East.

Hopefully It Will Be SBST Service That Are Being Amended.Maybe From Eunos,Bedok,Tampines,Pasir Ris Or Even Changi Airport PTB.

Pasir Ris is a one and a half hour journey away, going through Hougang, Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio. I'd rather take Sv. 56 to TPY then transfer Sv. 966 to get to Marine Parade, so much faster.

IMHO:

Bishan is pretty much covered. but is lacking in bus service to bt merah and also a bus service to east side like tampines / Bedok (direct link)

If I want to get to Bt. Merah I would plop myself on a Sv. 56 from interchange and x-fer Sv. 153 at TPY. An alternative is for Sv. 153 to ply along AMK Ave 1 / Boundary Rd such that it goes through Bishan, the amended route would be something like this :

Original route to Boundary Rd
Boundary Rd
AMK Ave 1
Bishan Rd
Braddell Rd
Lor 6 TPY
Back to original route.

Another alternative is for Sv. 153 to ply Bishan Int in BOTH directions, ie, via St 14, St 13, Bishan Int, St 11 and on to Bishan Rd.

I think there won't be much new SBST svcs in Bishan -- Houses have been fully occupied long ago. Once a town is fully-developed, bus route development stagnates...

There's still hope for more svcs in Sembawang. I'm sure there will be more svcs when more houses are occupied. But I don't think that will happen so soon as many houses are being left vacant. Only time will tell...

Impossible. Tibs replied to me in the email message that they will NOT amended services 858 and 969 as those services aimed to provide fast links between Woodlands, Yishun and Changi Airport / Tampines. Not so sure about service 965 though.

Sv. 965 should be no problem, definitely not Sv. 858 as it winds through Woodlands and Yishun.
