Service 124 to loop at Telok Blangah Heights, not calling at Bt Merah Int

From Sunday 23 November 2003, Service 124 will be amended to loop at Telok Blangah Heights instead of terminating at Bt Merah Int.

[Thanks to th1988 & Airbus330 for the information]

Hmm. Seems like it's going back to it's original route of looping at Telok Blangah. Smile

Telok Blangah where? Wonder why they made it loop at Telok Blangah, because of duplication with Sv. 131 and Sv. 605?

th1988 SG

Service 124 has been enhanced to serve Telok Blangah Heights that are currently not served by other bus services.
It will enhance travelling as residents will not have to walk far to get to a bus service and the service will link them to the Outram Park Interchange but more to the NEL.

Finally, Telok Blangah Heights/St 32/Drive residents are getting a trunk service to the city area.

Also, something has to be done to the frequency of service 273, the passengers waiting for service 273 during the evening peak hours queue beyond service 16 berth.

One inconvenience is that there is no more direct service between Bt Merah interchange and Kampong Bahru Rd (between Lower Delta Rd and Jln Bt Merah)

SBS9818A SG

Forcing passengers to take Sv. 273 down then Sv. 124 lah! I was thinking it could ply Telok Blangah Heights in both directions, using the same "IN"/"OUT" plates for St. Michaels.

Why Telok Blangah Heights in both directions? It has to ply St 32 and Drive.

SBS9818A SG

So the link between Bukit Merah and Telok Blangah Way is retained. And so double-decks can be deployed, relieving the load of Sv. 273

You mean terminating at Bt Merah interchange after looping along Telok Blangah Heights?

Shortworking trips 124A from St. Michael's terminal to Telok Blangah Dr (Blk 50).

SBS9818A SG

Correct. Or plying Telok Blangah Heights in both directions using the IN/OUT cards.

TIB822C SG

Hey there everyone...

I don't understand... Even if they have to loop around Telok Blangah to serve passengers, why would they want to make it a loop service?

service_238 SG

To SBST context, they may have thought that it would save all the hassle of looping instead of going around the estate and terminate at Bt Merah Int. I think they see it troublesome and it might be confusing for Telok Blangah Dr residents to check the IN/OUT cards OR Red/White plate. If i'm not wrong, there's still some elderly people living in that estate

The shortworking trips for SBST124A from St, Michael's ter to Telok Blangah Dr only run FROM 11.30PM to 1200AM only. Confused

It is actually from 11pm to 12mn.

Loop services usually have shortworking trips from around 11pm to end of operation. Examples are Siglap-bound services (ie. 16A, 55A, 76A, 135A, 155A)

Because looping first at Telok Blangah Dr and then proceed to terminate at Bt Merah interchange would mean a duplicating and unnecessary route.
