Basically, I can tell you that Sv 111 is now being used more like a peak hour svc. You can see at most about... 50-60% of a DD Bus filled. Very wasteful indeed! Also, look at the amount of distance travelled, and how many places it covers! To think that a cutting cost method has become a wasting money method. Look at the route b4 amended to terminate at Suntec City! The demand is WHOLE LOT better than the present one! Adui... wonder what SBST is thinking...

Urgh.. I feel madening about it. 106 can be so useful during its days travelling along the NE Corridor. It was a better alternative for people who wanted to get to places like Little India, Orchard, etc! However, look at what it is today!! Simply absurd.

how I wish for the day when the LTA increase the speed limits on SBST and Tibs buses to 70kmh on the expressways.

I believe their new and modern buses are capable of travelling at 70kmh safely on the expressways.... and express passengers such as Tibs 858 will be more than glad!

I think they can even reach 100km/h, but LTA will say "wait long long", for "safety considerations", etc.

Exactly! Melbourne's public buses can travel at 100kmh, but poor SBST and Tibs buses; have to travel at snail speed of 60kmh on expressways...just look at svc506, 858, road is usually straight, wide enough and clear, yet have to travel this speed!! no wonder the express buses collapsed la!!

if they change their minds and let the drivers drive at 100km/h, it'll last as long as the buses do not turn someone into a fusion of mangled flesh and twisted metal...

On the bright side, lagging maintainance on the VDO speed limiter on public buses allowed quite a few public buses to travel above 60kmh, including Mk IIIs and of course, 0405s and 0405Gs on TPE Very Happy

I've no comments on 60kmh limit on normal roads, considering the many bus-stops and traffic junctions along the rd.

If 100kmh along xp'ways is considered too risky, at least the authorities should allow buses to travel at higher speeds on the xp'ways; say 70-80kmh?? what I'm trying to say is the current speed limit of 60kmh even on xp'ways is simply too ridicious!!

and I don't think raising the limit to abt 70-80 on xp'ways is going to cause much more accidents...coz I feel that the main causes of accidents are due to tailgating, changing lanes w/o signalling, failing to check blind spots, fail to keep sufficient braking distance from the front vehicle...

I believe that most motorists still have some sense of judgement and intelligence..look at those stretches of expressways with 90kmh limits; I seldom see motorists travelling at 90kmh but only abt 60kmh during rainy days?? Question

Yes, true. Buses should be allowed to go at least 80km/h along the expressways. If not it defeats the purpose of having these routes go along the expressways!
