TIB1186Z SG This is nice...service 9 is always so crowded and they still use Mk IIIs and Striders and the freq can be quite long at times
Superbus SG Eh, but wait! I just remembered something. SBS9343C is from BNDEP (a service 69 bus) but Service 9 is a HGDEP bus. Does this mean Service 9 will now be operated by BNDEP also? Or did I saw 9348 instead of 9343? Will have to double check tomorrow... Cheers and warm regards
AntiDennisLance SG Check digits dont lie. If you saw a "C" then it is 9343. Only if you saw a "P" then it would be 9348. Unless u only looked at the 4 numbers and didnt notice the check digit.
SBS9818A SG Yes, I always thought Sv. 9 was controlled by HGDEP ever since its Geylang Lor 1 days? Perhaps you should call Bedok up and ask, I have the number and can forward it to you.
Superbus SG To those unbelievers that Service 9 operated Superbuses this morning, I called up Bedok Interchange to verify it. Surprise! Surprise! 5 VO 3-axles.. YES, 5 of them was on Service 9. Here are the regos: 9226 , 9228 , 9232 , 9309 & 9345 . The one that I saw was actually 9345, not 9343. Cheers and warm regards
SBS9818A SG Wow! This is great, but I’m baffled as how the buses enter Changi Airport Cargo Complex area, unless they refurbished the area recently. I haven’t been there in a while.
Superbus SG Updates on Service 9... I did not see any Superbus today, partly because I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Called up Bedok Interchange to ask, and was told that the same 5 buses is still on Service 9 today. Do not know if the man bluffed me or otherwise. Was about to ask if the Cargo Complex terminal was changed or something, but I was hung up! Damn that old man! Cheers and warm regards
AntiDennisLance SG hahhahahah maybe that old man thought u are kaypoh and just want to get on with his nap hahahahha typical singaporean old man
tranquilice SG Double deckers have no problems entering Changi Airport Cargo Complex (or Changi Airfreight Centre), I have been to the bus stop opposite the police pass office many times and I observed that the checkpoint shelter nearby is at least 4.5 m high, enough for a double decker to pass thru to enter the restricted area. Beside service 9, service 19 should have superbuses during peak hours.
tranquilice SG The entrance and exit to Changi Airport Cargo Complex (or Changi Airfreight Centre) was shifted many years ago (in the 1990s). In the early days when services 9 and 29 plied there, the entrance and exit was further down, in the form of a round-about with the junction of Changi Coast Rd. It was later shifted to the current location with a new checkpoint complex and pass office.
SBS9818A SG Yes, of course I know about the shift in exit. Wonder why that was done. Anyway, good to know Cargo Complex can accomodate double-decks, it's high time Sv. 9 gets them in any case.
tranquilice SG I believe the shift was done after the new cargo buildings are completed, and even before the shift, double deckers can go into the cargo complex. I think why service 9 gets double deckers now is due to the fact that checkpoint officers will get on every bus that arrives at the bus stop before the checkpoint, to check that every passengers on board has a pass to enter the cargo complex, else he will be required to alight. So in the case of a double decker, the officer has to check both the lower deck and upper deck, and may result in using more manpower during the peak hours. I think that the superbuses on service 9 currently is for trial purposes.
SBS9818A SG Today I had the chance of seeing THREE, yes, THREE Sv. 9 3-axle VOs returning to HGDEP speeding along Hougang Ave 2. Very nice sight. From the looks of another Sv. 9 3-axle VO in service, the loads seem worthy of a double-deck.
SBS9818A SG Finally got on SBS 9226H yesterday, at Tampines the lower deck was FULL, while upper deck was 3/4 full. Loads certainly warrant a double-deck.
tranquilice SG Service 9 is only full along the whole route in the peak hours. During the off-peak hours, you can still see many empty seats on single deckers plying between Cargo Complex and Loyang Ave, after reaching/departing Tampines, then the load increase/decrease respectively.
SBS9818A SG True, but on weekends the route is packed with passengers from Bedok - Tampines. It's the fact that the pax loads are to Tampines max, but earns money, thus SBST deploys double-decks.
stealthraider SG i am very curious, how did u guys get so much info on local buses? does SBS Transit/Tibs really entertain phonecalls asking abt bus/bus route details, right down to what type of buses are deployed and their number plates?
